The stats say otherwise.

He can see some throws, but his release is so slow he can't get rid of the ball fast enough.

I think it’s a combination personally because his mechanics do break down at times and his processing speed is less than desirable -both will result in holding the ball too long

It sucks, the Bears manage to land 2 very physically talented QB’s who can’t process after the snap (Cutler and Fields)

That’s why they need to give it another shot with a different guy in this upcoming draft. Good chance to get it right with these prospects

Looks like Kevin Warren wants to go ahead and fire Ryan Poles. Unfortunately, Black Ted Philips also wants to be "more involved" in football operations....

Kevin Warren hasn't done the job he was hired to do. I would be surprised if the report was true.

Yeah the Bears have managed to screw this up on every level. They hire Poles to fix things and he seems to be making a lot of bad decisions - from coaching hires to drafting to FAs. There does seem to be an improvement in talent on the roster but it couldn't have possibly gotten any worse than it was. They then bring in a head guy to get the stadium built. Not sure where that is at but everything you read seems get worse and worse and they seem no where near getting the stadium built. So I guess the next thing to try is to let the guy that was brought in to do one job and cant do that try and make some football decisions. I cant think of a bigger laughing stock than this organization other than maybe the White Sox.

Stadium front has been quiet so maybe that means negiotiating behind the scenes is going on? In the meantime the Arlington Park demo is essentially completed. They certainly did not wait on that.

agreed....no news, quiet, and no drama I take as a good thing.

Would be nice. I wonder what their relationship was like when Warren was with the Big 10

That said, I’d be shocked if the Bears canned Poles after the season. I mean, I’d can him if I was running the team but I don’t think the Bears will.

I think that right now, the Bear's have enough talent to be a play-off team. I think that what they lack is a coaching staff that knows how to do it. Eberflus and company need to be replaced.

They do have the talent. It's obvious. Eberflus seems like a good dude but he isn't a good coach. Says a lot of generalized dumb shit. Players hate that crap.

Bears 2024 Offensive Starters:

DJ Moore
Kmet
Wright
Jenkins
Davis
Jones
Johnson/Herbert

Offensive Holes:
QB
Center
2 WR
Coaching

2024 Defensive Starters:
Sweat
Billings
Edmunds
Edwards
Sanborn/Twinkle Toes
Brisker
Johnson
Stevenson

Defensive holes:
FS
3 technique
Edge rusher
Possibly a corner
Coaching

Most of these holes can easily be filled in free agency and the draft. I think the Bears can be a playoff team in 2024

I think Dexter has a spot in that starter group. He’s looked pretty good over these last few games.

The stats say otherwise.

He can see some throws, but his release is so slow he can't get rid of the ball fast enough.

The stats showed two games. That's a pretty little sample to make a big critique I think. Also, I don't see that he has any problem with something called mechanics.

I do not see Fields as being unable to "process" after the stamp. Especially when you factor in that he is frequently buying time based on his ability to run for yardage.

He clearly waits for a guy to get open, knowing he can evade if needed. Seems coached to be honest. They don't run many timing plays at all

I watched a replay of a td pass that Mahomes threw to a back-up tight end against the Raiders yesterday. Mahomes probably ran around for 6 or 7 seconds at least looking for an open guy. Finally the guy broke loose for a TD. Wonder if he would get gigged for taking too long the get rid of the ball? I am being a bit sarcastic but I have a lot of problems with critics of qbs when they don't release the ball according to some "experts" assessment of their mechanics or recognition. SURE SOME THROWS ARE LATE BUT..... qbing isn't a job that is programmed exactly to always happen as a play is designed. Mahomes is the perfect example of the reality of an optimum quarterback in my mind. truth is that I'd bet about half of his throws are stuff similar to what a kid in a park playing with his buddies might program in the dirt. "Joe, run out to the sprinkler head and stop. Pete, you run past Joe and take a left toward the park bench. I'll run around for awhile and wait until fat Albert stumbles to the mud puddle and gets free and hit him there."

I agree with much of this. Many of Mahomes' "explosive" plays are improvised rather than planned. But the fact of the matter is that he also makes big plays within Reid's offense, throws with anticipation, executes screen passes very effectively, and will "take what the defense gives him" when necessary. Fields doesn't do particularly well in most of these areas.

Poles is going to have to play an intriguing game of maximizing Fields' value while all trading partners know he has to trade him. Obviously, trading him has to occur on/before draft day.

Poles would have looked foolish if Carolina had been just a bit not as bad. We really gloss over that he passed on Stroud, a guy we could only hope Williams/Maye/Fields plays as well as.

Stroud didn't want to come to Chicago because of Fields and none of us thought he would be this good. He may not ultimately be this good. No case can be made that drafting him would be better than the assets we received in return. If Carolina were slightly better, we would still have this:

Moore
Wright
Stevenson
2 top 10 picks in a great draft
Future 2nd
Clarity on Fields
