No one loved (Pro Bowl QB) (Pro Bowl QB) (Pro Bowl QB) (Pro Bowl QB) (Pro Bowl QB) (Pro Bowl QB) (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky this much and (Pro Bowl QB) (Pro Bowl QB) (Pro Bowl QB) (Pro Bowl QB) (Pro Bowl QB) (Pro Bowl QB) (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky outperformed Fields in his first three years and the Bears actually won.

Fields has more talent than (Pro Bowl QB) (Pro Bowl QB) (Pro Bowl QB) (Pro Bowl QB) (Pro Bowl QB) (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky. That's why. Pretty low bar but the reason that Bears fans love Fields is because "WE" know that he is the most talented QB that "WE" have seen in a Bears uniform in our lifetimes.

Yet he didn't outplay (Pro Bowl QB) (Pro Bowl QB) (Pro Bowl QB) (Pro Bowl QB) (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky and his team had a terrible record.

And in 1985 Steve Young also didn't "outplay" Jim McMahon either. Still didn't mean that he wasn't the "more talented" QB at the time.

Do you think McMahon would have been as good with the same coach and talent? Not Zippy, but a lot of guys older than me believe McMahon was underrated.

He was so fun to watch at BYU and loved pissing off the Mormons

And likely Steve Young as well seeing as his Great Grandfather was the person the school was named after.

Now were talking Philly and Pittsburgh backup QBs. Doesn't get more off season out of town NFL than that, aye?

Terrible trade, a good backup has more value than a 6th round pick.

Can't wait to hear LoHo and Rahimi's take. Bears got essentially the same as what New England got for Mac Jones.

But I was just told that Fields was a starter for Pittsburgh and was a Top 5 quarterback:

Late 6th rd pick? Thats almost just a salary dump even though they don't need to dump salary. Ridder is fucking terrible and they were able to get Rondale Moore for him.

If you believe the report, they were interested in Fields but chose Pickett over him given the cost.
It's clear from the report that they "settled" for the lesser player because the Bears wanted too much (in their opinion at least) for the guy THEY REALLY WANTED.

Right. We’re saying the same thing.

They didn’t think Fields was worth the cost and were fine choosing the Pickett option.

*if the reporting is correct

Nothing in the report suggests that Philly had a "choice" between the 2 players and "chose" Pickett

The report literally says they talked to the Bears but couldn’t agree on a price. That was the choice.

Of course that was the "choice" Philly made.

I have a sneaking suspicion the Steelers "choose" Fields as a backup to Wilson for that 3rd round pick they just got for Pickett. We shall see. But he's not even on the trading block according to LTG, so maybe not.

I guess he was on the trading block after all. I was wrong, it only took a 6th (conditional, of course).

Basically they traded Pickett, a 4th and 6th for Fields and a 3rd. Not bad. Oh, and they are paying less than $5mil for Wilson and Fields. That leaves $250mil for the rest of the roster.

Hand up, I was wrong that nfl teams thought Fields was more valuable than Pickett.

A top 5 quarterback should get more than a 6th round pick, shouldn't they?
