Don't trust any of these changes until after the combine.

On the flip side, ive always been told to be wary of a prospect who's status is changed by the combine.

All the recent mocks have the Bears picking a safety with #3 -- I think it is wrong to move off of Allen -- if they don't get a safety via free agency, they can still get a good safety in Round 2, but the drop off from Allen to the next 3-4 DL is pretty big.

If Allen's on the board still it's almost inexcusable to draft a safety over him. Teams are built with the lines. Premium safeties are luxuries for already established teams.

I think they mean unknowns with no game resume who put up great athletic numbers

I think QB analysis is especially dependent on the various workouts because of the lack of pro style offenses in college.

New McShay ESPN Mock Draft:

1. Garrett 2. Watson

Quote:
3. Chicago Bears, 3-13

Jonathan Allen, DE, Alabama

Allen has elite strength and quickness. He's an excellent run-stopper, and he had 15 QB hurries and 10.5 sacks as an interior pass-rusher in 2016. The Bears could also be in the market for a quarterback, but Allen is the pick because of his elite skill set (No. 2 player on my board) and fit in Vic Fangio's base 3-4 scheme.

Two reported surgeries, and speculation that there may have been a third that wasn't reported. Still and all, he put up elite numbers after all of it, and the Bears will have a chance to test it out at the combine.

(Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky passed his measurement questions at the combine being over 6'2" and 9.5" hands.

I read he has shoulder arthritis in both shoulders. They'll draft him anyway tho.

Great. He will be Tommie Harris for three years and be done. :(

Hoping they get Allen, I see Todd Mcshay agrees with me and has no QB worthy of a first round pick this year.

Why the hell would they want this guy? It's not even the biggest need on defense.

Doesn't his post show McShay having Watson going 2nd?

McShay has a board with his scouting evaluations and one with who he thinks teams will draft.

Yeah, not into drafting a guy who has bad shoulders already. Might be a mistake but surely there is someone else to draft. I know its a need but Bears don't seem to have had a lot of luck with drafting guys with injury concerns. I mean, Harris was great while he lasted but if Allen's career flames out in same time period the bears will suck during most of his time as a productive player..

They are fools if they draft Allen. Let someone else take that chance. No way can they make that risk.

I don't see what could go wrong. The Bears took Kevin White despite injury whispers and nothing bad happened there...

Well, Allen was my guy. But injury concern Allen is not. Maybe grab Peppers then.

If Pace doesn't stop pinching pennies they are going to be forced into Marshon Lattimore. Lattimore is great and had an impressive combine but that is very high for a CB.
