They gave up a shitload to move one spot. What a fucking chump. You cannot tell men he was so necessary that you essentially gave up at least one other starting level talent and maybe more

Where do they get these guys with no negotiation skills

You know he is going to trade that second round pick to get back one of those third round ones too. Jackass.

Agreed. You can't tell men.

They gave up too much but I think he can be a good player.

And you put the pick in the context of free agency where they let their big target walk

I suppose the pick in round 2 has to be a receiver of some variety to help him which leaves you with a shit show secondary again

There are some secondary guys with size you might be able to get in the 3rd or 4th.

Only problem is they traded those picks away.

I feel better already.

Probably because I'm drinking Tito's.

What were we talking about?

People are still failing to show me proof of the year-in year-out success of players drafted in the 3rd round that make those picks so incredibly valuable.

Is your position that no good player has ever been drafted in the 3rd round?

Wrong.

Not happy with this.

I dont mind picking a QB...but it was completely stupid to give away those picks to move one spot. They could have had Watson at 3...or several other pretty good picks on D.

No, my position is the vast majority of players drafted in the 3rd round aren't anything special. The odds of the Bears selecting one of those kinds of players with either of those two 3rd rounders that they traded away are very small and should not be cause for major concern.

If the Bears gave up a 1st rounder or 2nd rounder in 2018 I would be upset, but they didn't so I dont mind. The price they paid really wasn't too dear.

America is trolling. Has to be. He refuses to admit the guy he likes better, Watson, would have been there without giving up any picks.

Of the 260 players drafted in the 3rd and 4th rounds since 1998, 26 have been selected to multiple pro-bowls.

30 multiple Pro Bowlers of 266 selected in the 1st and 2nd rounds in the same time frame.

Of course Pro Bowl selections is probably a valuation metric worse off than W/L% for pitchers, but that's the best I could do on short notice.

Your math is way off.

Roughly 70 players are drafted in the 3rd and 4th round every year. Going back 19 years means roughly 1,330 players drafted in those rounds. Way more than the 260 you claim. This kind of blatant factual inaccuracy invalidates any point you could possibly be trying to make.

Yep. You're right, I was using PFR's Draft Index, and my query was fucked up. I'll be back with better numbers.
