I just found that post funny. I don't think it was a bad pick. My only concern if I were a Bear fan is it's not a position of need but that doesn't matter much when you're rebuilding.

Well, he's white -so we know he'll try hard.

So there's that.

Shaheen isn't a project.

He can contribute from day 1. He just isn't a great blocker.

Sounds like he has a really high upside. That's the kind of guy you want in the 2nd. Secondary is gonna be a disaster again next year though.

This is being based off of him looking great in Div II?

I'm not buying in until I see it.

I actually like what they've done so far. They have "needs" all over the field and on both sides of the ball.

Well, there's at least two highlight videos on Youtube calling him, "Baby Gronk". That's better than Baby McCown.

There's got to be something special about this guy declaring early as a D2 prospect and then actually getting taken in R2.

I have no problem with this pick, because obviously the Bears are in full rebuilding mode now. The clock started yesterday with (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky.

You're going to really hate when they take Lorenzo Jerome in the 4th.

A QB who won't play and a D2 TE......it doesn't matter at this point. Pace isn't going anywhere so who cares. Now we can look forward to the playmakers in the 4th round and later.

Jordan Howard, a 5th round pick, would've been OROY last year if it weren't for the Cowboys duo.

Me too. Honestly what would it be like if the Bears have a stud QB for the next MANY years? I hope the kid excels. I like the "ballsy" move....and I like the trade down to get back some picks.

I'd love to be proven wrong but just don't see it.

Both have bust written all over them. Should have 2 starters on board, instead two projects.

(Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky has to be a franchise QB. Has to be. I pray to God he is. Or the Bears are screwed.

Peeps.....seriously......going into this draft did you think a major Bears need was TE?

That's part of the process. The Bears are a project...they are not Super Bowl contenders next year. They have to take some of these chances...it's all a risk. Rarely are there "sure things" in the draft. If the QB can play....a lot of other pieces will fall into place. If he can't....well, they've been sucking anyway....they'll just suck for a few more years.

They were 3-13, they had needs everywhere.

The Bears are full of holes, why aren't they taking the best player?
A TIGHT END? WHAAAA dont they know we need help specifically in the secondary? Forget best player!

Ryan Pace has done extremely well with 2nd round picks so far. Really, the best two players he has drafted from are Goldman (I just wish he could stay healthy) and Whitehair. You can hate the (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky pick for all the stupid reasons you want, but Pace has earned the benefit of the doubt in the 2nd round.

Is it ok to hate the (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky pick for smart reasons?

I've yet to hear an intelligent reason to hate the (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky pick. There are many smart reasons to be unsure about it, but no smart reasons to declare being "done with the Bears" before the guy ever takes a snap.

I agree with your last sentence but there are plenty of intelligent reasons to dislike the pick. It was a huge risk.

The Bears really needed to take this kind of risk. I just dont see how Solomon Thomas or Jamal Adams really move the needle that much unless they are Hall of Fame caliber guys. As bad as people say the Bears are they really dont pick in the top 3 very often, this was their chance to grab the top QB without selling the farm to do so and they seized it. There will be plenty of good defensive backs in next year's draft and some of the guys they have now, Deiondre Hall in particular, have a lot of room for growth this coming season.
