Not even Ryan Pace.

That's the point. His ass is gonna be fired if he doesn't get the stud QB. Same as every other GM in the NFL. So he took his chance. He knew the clock was ticking on him. This buys him 2 more years.

Get the great QB, you're a great GM. Don't get one, you suck as a GM.

It's really that simple.

I don't think he will suck because of his accuracy. Him being just OK is the worst situation because the Bears only launch people when they are demonstrably terrible.

(Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky cannot be just OK. This is a franchise QB move.

Pace tied his future to this pick . If (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky sucks it'll cost him his job.

I'm confident that MT will never win a super bowl, I wouldn't take any QB this year in the top 10, bad class..Next year is the year to draft a QB. Sure, you can say " nobody knows" I knew Cutler sucked, it just took 2-6 years for the majority of bear fans to realize it.

Watson will be a solid NFL QB and Mahomes is a crap shoot, I wouldn't waste a 4th round pick on Kizer or (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky..Pace got pantsed by rookie GM

Bears media clip of the bears draft room - Pace going over the fact that everyone had a consensus that Mitchy was the best QB...

things is, all of the QB's are mediocre with potential, versus next which which is solid highly rated QB's.

So its easy to be the best of a mediocre lot....

thats why people are bitching - along with the draft picks given up which should have been used to grab Obi.

Now we still have a half ass secondary.

Agreed. The Bears have a top drafted QB. If they fuck it up, Pace is fired and we start over again.

It can't be worse than the Rick Mirer or Cade McNown years.

Its better for him to be terrible than average, that way the Bears dont waste a decade "trying to make it work with him" like they did with Cutler. If he does bust it is on the regime after Ryan Pace to not become infatuated with him like three consecutive Bears front offices became inexplicably infatuated with Cutler.

Well now when it happens we can, and should, blame you.

Pace saw the writing on the wall. He fucked up enough that he was juuuuuust about out of time.
Now he got himself another year and another draft because his 1st rounder by the grace of God hopefully will be handwarmjng a clipboard for the next 15 months.
He was just buying himself more time.

Then again the bears ownership is just stupid enough to think he's doing a great job.

Cutler didn't suck - that was the whole problem with the QB position... anyone who says that Cutler sucked is a poor evaluator of NFL talent. You may want to get more specific with the areas in which he sucked. Overall, he was at least an average QB in the NFL.

Picking a QB that you can avoid starting for his rookie year definitely buys a GM two more years on the contract. Head Coach, not so much.
