Fun and encouraging? Yes
Positive performance thus far? Yes
Should you be proud? Yes
Strong strength of schedule? No
Bumslayers? Yes, and proudly so.
Better team than [insert previous good Bears team]? No
Superbowl bound? No, not this year.

Do everyone a favor and ban yourself. We don't need this level of ignorance from a so called Bears fan. Veganism is destroying your brain.

Not surprising from the board's resident meatball. How many touchdowns do you have (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky throwing for in the SB this year?

I'm troubled by the ease with which Detroit ran on the Bears this week. Obviously that will be the Giant gameplan as well with Barkley and probably the Rams with Gurley if the weather is bad.

I think it was fatigue. We'll find out soon because they're going to face 2 great backs the next 2 weeks. My belief is if they shut the running game down like they did against the Vikings neither QB is good enough to beat them.

Giants I agree.

Rams, you need a drug test.

The Saints had success with it and I don't think they have a better defense than the Bears. They contained Gurley and Goff couldn't beat them.

Saints also had to put up 45 points to beat the Rams.

Mitch vs. Rams defense worries me.

I would have agreed with this a month ago but I think they've been exposed.

Depends on if we get good accuracy Mitch or bad accuracy Mitch when we attack their secondary.

I think playing on the garbage surface of Soldier field in December helps the Bears chances of slowing the rams down more than keying on Todd Gurley.

The Rams will slaughter the Bears. The only way the Bears have a chance is if the Rams rest their starters.

Because of all the times the Bears have been blown out this season.

The Bears have played two teams who are currently above 500. They haven't been blown out because their competition sucks.

They did not pick the schedule. This is a really lazy argument. They are clearly one of the better teams in the league. To act otherwise at this point is ignoring the evidence to a point of bias.

This is so unbelievably stupid. I've seen this type of thing said by MANY people MANY times, and its stupid every single goddam time.

There are three categories in the standings- Wins, Losses, and Ties. Thats it. There is not a column for qualifiers like "barely won," or "beat a bad team" or "benefitted from turnovers" or "the other defense sucked." Its a win, or a loss (with a rare tie). That is it.

You know who had 'easy' schedules last year? A bunch of playoff teams, and the two Super Bowl teams.
Quote:
On the other hand, playing an easy schedule seemed to work out well for nearly anyone. Of the teams that played the 10 easiest schedules in 2017, six of them ended up getting into the postseason. As a matter of fact, of the eight teams remaining going into the divisional round, five -- the Patriots, Eagles, Steelers, Jaguars and Titans --- ended up with one of the league's easiest schedules.

The Bears have lined up and beaten their opponents more often than MANY other teams in the league. Maybe they aren't a Super Bowl favorite this year, but that doesn't mean they can't get there and win it. At least it looks like they will make the playoffs and have a chance to.

My very first post was more nuanced. At the very least they are not bums. This is evidenced by them beating bums every week mostly. This isn't criticism - the Bears have been bums for the past 3-4 years, so them separating themselves from that class this year is a step in the right direction. But that's as far as I'm willing to go. I'd like to see how they do against the Rams and against whoever they play in the playoffs. Those games should let us know how far the Bears need to go to take that next step into contender status. Guys like Nas are probably already taking time off from work to attend the superbowl. What I'm saying here is more reasonable. My take is the Bears need a couple more pieces on offense. The defense is good but to compete against the Rams, NO, Pitt, etc., they'll need to become deadly on the other side of the ball.

Not what I'm saying. The Bears deserve every win and they're to blame for every loss. They're a playoff team this year. But a previously inferior team beating inferior teams just means you aren't inferior anymore. There are still lots of questions on whether or not they can hang with the elite teams.

Once the Bears beat the Rams, what will be the next hat for people to try and hang their hats on for why the Bears really aren't that good?

BEARS.

They don't need any more pieces on offense. They just need Mitch to play well. Against the other elite team they played this year he played well enough to win. They were one foot away from either overtime or a two-point conversion for the win. I don't think they give up two special teams touchdowns in a game again this year either.

If you want to say the Bears are not as good as the Rams that's fine. To say they get blown out no questions asked is either being way too negative or trying to stir things up. If it's the later then respect.

Or maybe the question is that how can other teams hang with the Bears, since the Bears are getting closer and closer to that elite category?

Yeah I agree on the Patriots and Packers games. They could have been a one loss team this year. It's objectively very impressive given where they were a year ago. I still think they'll get blown out if the Rams play at full strength. If I'm wrong I'll gladly own it. I disagree on offense - not sold on Mitch and they can't run the ball. Need another WR and a better running game. What they have is enough to beat teams like the Lions and Bucs on a consistent basis. But that's not who you want to measure yourself against.

Those black beans and tofu are killing you. This isn't the Bears team you thought they were. At home the Bears will maul the Rams like they haven't had a meal in weeks.

I'm not ready to say they can't run the ball. I haven't really seen them commit to trying.

I am concerned with their inability to run the ball and I think that they need better offensive tackles in the future, I thin that Nagy is going to have to figure something out in the meantime and get Cohen and Burton involved more offensively to make up for the lack of a good running game. Quite a few teams run to set up the pass. I think that the BEars need to pass to set up the run.
