Hear me out here guys - Seriously....

Im not a fan of anyone in this QB draft and moving up to get one ripped my heart out for a good safety on the defense.

I was thinking today some though and thought about this scenario...

What if Pace was thinking about the long game. The next draft or two and not just the here and now?

Looking at our schedule, Learning curves for new QB's, no secondary or a weak one and a growing pressure line, we can assume pretty easily we will be in the top 5 again in the 2018 draft unless the stars align and we sacrifice a few chickens.

So we should be a spot that everyone will want to get to and pay a premium for it.

if we find that Mitch isnt the guy Pace thought he was, he can still get a QB out of the heavily favored class net year or he can trade out for a premium and get some good picks. I can see some first and second rounders coming our way in 2018 and 2019. Picking Mitch this year gives us a lot of options for next year.

If this is his thinking - nice planning for the long haul and not the short game.

I am a glass half full guy what can I say.

His 1st 2 drafts cast some doubt on this. But I digress

This isn't baseball and he isn't Theo or Jed.

So, on a rebuilding plan, they turned 7 picks including 3, 36, 67, 109, and 115 into 5 total picks at 2, 45, 112, 119, and 147.

I feel like that's not as good.

Yea I dont understand how exactly you move back in every single round (except the first) and still wind up with fewer picks. Plus next year's third rounder.

Yeah it a more bites at the apple thing. Don't you have a greater chance of finding players who don't suck with more chances to do so? The fewer the picks the less margin for error . That's in addition to having so many holes to fill, the more picks you need .

It all started with a dumb trade in round 1.

I mean, even if he is trying to stick it to Fox here somehow, he's simultaneously sticking it to himself as well with this crap lol

Odd draft all the way around.

Cleveland wanted (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky. It was the only reason to make the deal. In the next 24 hours the Browns tried to trade for Cousins and Garropolo, before finally settling for Kizer.

If it works out, he's a genius. If he doesn't then Pace is unemployed.

Even after trading up to get Mitch, Pace still could have had a nice rounds 2-7. But he fucked that all up.

Among TEs, Adam Shaheen ranked 15th in Slaytics and ninth in SPARQ athletic measurements. Context: Njoku ranked No. 1 in both.

This will go down as one of the worst 2nd round picks in NFL history.

The long haul Pace is planning for has nothing to do with the well being of the team, but instead his own employment. The "potential" of (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky will be Pace's argument that he deserves another year once the Bears finish with 3-5 wins again this season.

I didn't even realize this.

Pace will be sticking around. He'll get to choose his own coach.

I was just listening to WGN and Adam Hoge is defending Ryan Pace like his life depends on it. Any and all reports of Pace getting fleeced in the deal to move up to #2 are wrong, and he should know because he's a reporter.

He's so over-the-top it's kind of odd.

Pace
Play safe and don't make the playoffs in 3 years and management is getting antsy,,,draft a QB at #1 trade up to get him and we have to see what this guy can do (saves Paces ass to the end of his contract maybe beyond ) Rodgers is getting long in the tooth and Stafford and Bradford aren't anything means in three years Mitch the Bitch is the best QB in the division pick up some free agents and the Bears will be very competitive :D

Tom coughlin congratulated Lynch on his fleecing of Pace, he said something like " I've never seen that done in all my years of football " the guy is like 80 years old

Cleveland wasn't moving up, SF is drafting a QB next year and signing Cousins.. Pace got ass banged by a rookie GM.

IF Cleveland wanted him they could have traded up to get him. Reality is they weren't willing to give up much to move up and did MUCH better moving down.
