Then he isnt the guy then. I've watched too many QB's that turn out to be good make nobody wide outs look good. This is a poor excuse. Get the kids growing pains out of the way in a lost season so you don't have to toss away multiple seasons trying to find out what you have. There's no expectations for this team this year, no pressure. It's actually a great time to do it.

Tom Brady had a great defense and solid veterans on offense. What top pick has had success with crap? The Bears may have the worst receivers in the NFL.

Then the ball hits them on target and they drop it. That's not in him. People act like identifying talent is fucking rocket science -its not. Either they can play or they can't. Sure there's development needed here and there (like properly identifying plays/blitzes and so on), but the talent side of it is always there. (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky has the talent, but he needs to be developed and sitting on the sidelines watching isn't develioing anything. He isn't getting many snaps in practice, almost no time becoming familiar with actual game speed and no live game development at all.

Nas, the Bears aren't going to magically sign 3 stud wide outs next year or draft that many either. So the 'not enough talent around him to do it' is a cop out. How long do you really wait to do this? Because the talent isn't changing much next year either.

Didn't watch, because I saw this coming, but I will tune into the postgame fireworks with Hamp and O'B. .

They wanted to redshirt him anyway. I'm okay with that.

I don't expect them to sign 3 stud wideouts but I would prefer he had NFL targets to throw the ball to. Sign a couple of competent guys and use the first pick on a WR. Give the #2 pick a chance. Every team that uses a top 5 pick on a QB gives him at least 1 really good target.

There isn't the slightest iota of 'may' about it.

Brian Hoyer played the same smallball offense last season and looked very good doing it. The Bears were not interested.

Josh McCown just tossed a bomb to Jermaine Curse. I like old guys. That's why you keep some weathered vets on your team. I'm talking a guy like Curse, too.

Tom Brady almost went to the super bowl with Jabar Gaffeny and Reche Caldwell as his #1 and#2 receivers.

The hell with that example, Rex Grossman took a Bears team with an over the hill vet and not much else at WR to a SB

Wide receivers
80 Bernard Berrian
16 Mark Bradley
17 Airese Currie
81 Rashied Davis
12 Justin Gage
87 Muhsin Muhammad

That's possibly a better depth chart than what Brady was working with that year
Troy Brown
Jabar Gaffeny
Reche Caldwell
Bam Childress
Doug Gabriel
Chad Jackson

In just two games he ranks #50 in all-time passing yardage for the Bears. God what a shitpile of quarterbacks they've had.

Only dignified rube thought Hoyer might have been the long-term answer. He is a guy perfectly equipped to be a placeholder. He could have been had for cheaper, played a season or two, and then Mitch would have been the QB of the future.

Only watched some of the fourth quarter and all I saw was three receivers drop passes that hit them squarely in the hands. Tanner Gentry looked like an MVP (cause he actually caught a ball).

Has somebody checked on OB's health? The thing I miss most is Doug on the post game show after a loss like this.
