Yeah. Wanting to be a great running team is basically wanting to be the 12th best team in the league.

Stats don’t really back you up on that. There’s a pretty huge correlation between running the ball and winning games.

I'll aspire to be a great passing team and take my chances.

That’s fine.

http://www.espn.com/nfl/statistics/team/_/stat/rushing

Out of the top 10 rushing teams, Dallas is the only non playoff team. Ironically, they are missing the playoffs due to missing their stud RB for 6 games.

The bottom 9 rushing teams are all gonna miss the playoffs.

You need to run the ball in football, regardless of what year it is.

Having good running backs helps when you're losing. The Bears RB's are better than anyone Stafford had.

Can you take a guess why that stat would be skewed?

I mean multiple teams with HOF quarterbacks are in the top ten.

I knew that was gonna be your response, and it’s irrelevant. I think everyone knows that winning teams run the ball more often.

That list clearly shows the best running teams aren’t the “12th best team in the league”. It’s literally the opposite of what you implied.

It’s interesting that you bring up the HOF QB thing though. Brees has the best running game he’s had in years. Not coincidentally, this is the best team he’s been on in years also. Funny how that works.

If you can pass, running stats will just happen.

Not necessarily. Detroit was the 6th best passing team and the 32nd best run team.

Well the 12th best team makes the playoffs. They just aren't a threat. That's basically KC. Certainly better than the Bears but not what I hope the good times are.

If running the ball is so effective then why don't teams start doing it more?

You seem to think I said running isn't important. Passing is just more important.

The good teams do run it often. I can give you a guess as to why the bad teams don’t do what you’re supposed to to win games.

Not when it comes to winning. Running has always been more important. That hasn’t changed.

3 of the top 6 passing teams this year are gonna watch the playoffs from home.

 Oh I know that he is a candidate.

He is marked off the list if he is your guy. Because you are football stupid. So if he is your guy then he cannot be the next coach.

Is the Tribune football stupid, too?

Take overachieving Vikings OC. Good fit for developing your young QB. He will be the coach.

Nah. I'd use your team as an example. When it comes down to it, a passing offense with a MVP QB will win you a game ten times out of ten over a ball control offense with a Hof RB. Obviously when you combine an exceptional running game with an exceptional passing game then all is good, but if you can only pick an awesome air or ground attack, you go with the air I think.

The 12th best team in the league makes the playoffs too so I'm not sure your point.

I'll take my chances going for a great passing team instead of aspiring to be KC.

I think you may want to rethink that 10 times out of 10 number.

That's bullshit. Usually the owner sits in on the final interview. Typical stupid Bears.

Agreed, that sounds unusual. I understand the last round of interviews, certainly not the entire process, especially if there are 10 or so candidates.

The Bears aren't interviewing McDaniels as much as McDaniels is interviewing the Bears. He'll get one look at the Bears power structure and refuse any offer they make him.

Not enthused by Schurmur at all really.
