Who?

The all time leader in kick & punt return yardage, and an otherwise long time solid player

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Patrick Mannelly yet.

I honestly believe that the Hall of fame means something entirely something different to under 35 - 40 year old crowd.

20 touchdowns isn't THAT special imo

At his position, no one could really do it any better.

He isn't going into the HoF as a WR or DB. He is going in as a kick returner. As he should.

He isn’t going into the HoF.

He’s not a HoFer but at his peak he was easily the most exciting player in the NFL.

I believe Sproles has a stronger HoF case and he won’t come close either.

Never saw a player with better acceleration. The guy was a freak. The Bear should have used him like Florida, and to some extent, the Vikings used Percy Harvin.

Damning with faint praise.... Would absolutely be the #1 WR on the bears right now. He would look like AJ Green next to these fucks.

Hell, in 2008 he was the best WR on the team. Hester, Rashied Davs, Brandon Lloyd, and a 32 yo washed up Marty Booker. His return numbers would possibly have been even better if the Bears weren't so devoid of talent on offense that he was forced to play receiver so much.

He’s the football version of roger maris when it comes to hof talk.
But I think he should be in. He was the greatest at a specialized position.

A HR hitter doesn't seem like the right niche, I'd almost go a better Billy Hamiliton. A middling hitter but a single would become a triple automatically thru stolen bases. Stealing 250 bases a year for the first few years of his career.

Had rule changes made to the game basically because of him.

The greatest ever at what he did.

No question in my mind about this.

He isn’t going into the HoF.

Maybe, maybe not.

But I've seen writers express he deserves it and I haven't really found any that say he does not. I haven't referenced them all as selection committee voters, but probably a few of them are.

I've seen an argument against that was based on yards on returns. Which is hilarious because teams would kick out of bounds or squib punts just to make sure he didn't have even a small chance to return it. He changed the game.

I think Hester alluded to it in his retirement statement/tweet. He told Goodell he can now move the kickoff back to the 35 or whatever now.

That's what I thought NME was referencing.

Yeah, that was changed due to "player safety". Not because Hester was unstoppable

Hester is dumb enough to believe that.

Well believing the NFL does anything for player safety unless the players get it from the CBA is also kind of stupid

That’s why I put it in quotes. It was a PR move. It’s hilarious people think it was done because Hester was too good.
