I hope so.

5th in the league in total offense and they rely heavily on using a tight end.

We have a big athletic target that was ignored this season.

This.

How do you not have a goal line sub package for a TE that is 6'6?

I wonder if this is all set up to get Alex Smith to come here.

Even the Chiefs think it kind of sucks to be the Chiefs.

Danny B will say he was told about this hire last week but was told not to say anything

He loves (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky. If the Bears are going to be good, (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky has to be good. I'm optimistic.

Like Frank said, time for Pace to upgrade offensive players.

Yep. As happy as I am about the Bears not hiring another retread like Fox, this still reeks of just cluelessly trying to follow a trend and hope for the best (and of course save the McCaskeys money too).

There are like literally two choices when you hire a coach. A 1st time coordinator or a retread. Also DeFillipo would have been more of the Rams copy cat move.

I'd love (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky for a few million a year too.

DeFilippo or McDaniels would be good with me. There are others too that I would have been happy with but those two are from the top of my head.

If we are going to go with a young and unproven guy I'd rather it not be someone from a remarkably above average place like the Chiefs.

What exactly have the Eagles won yet? Oh that's right, jack shit, just like the Chiefs. If the Bears hired DeFillipo your list would have been McDaniels/Nagy. Because that is what you do..you "Caller Bob on the internet"

Nobody. Just kidding Rick.

As for this hire I like it. I saw all that I needed to see in the first half of the KC wildcard game to see the offense I want. S&P reported that in the second half Reid took back the calling in a panic and the offense was worse.

I was making fun of "not wanting to be the Chiefs" last week on here.

DeFilippo has worked with Carr and Wentz. I'd trust him to handle (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky well.

And Nagy turned Alex Smith into mediocre/borderline draft bust to a top 10 quarterback in the NFL.

1. He likes (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky, which for better or for worse is important that the coach has confidence in the franchise QB
2. He's an Andy Reid guy, which is better than being for example a Romeo Crennel guy or a Tom Coughlin guy or a Sean Payton guy.
3. He's not a Patriots guy so he might not be an asshole
4. He has the option of either trying to convince Fangio to stay, or picking his own DC.

It sounds like IF Nagy wants Fangio to stay AND IF Fangio wants to work for Nagy THAT THEN Pace will throw enough money at it to make it happen. But Vic probably has to decide today or else they'll start interviewing other 3-4 scheme DC candidates.

Nagy was recently with the Eaglos.

Wasn't Fangio making 3m a year? I have to believe Nagy took a lowball offer (not that he deserves a big one) and I can't see them paying Fangio more than Nagy.

Smith was not a bust when he left SF. He was good the last 2 years there.

The Chiefs are also seemingly done with Smith.

Bears need a backup QB.

Harbaugh made him a decent game manager and eventually lost his job to Kaepernick. In KC he developed into a top 10 QB in the league

I'll take the guy who was there with Carr and Wentz over the guy that took Smith from decent game manager to borderline top 10.

There wasn't a search firm used to hire this guy.

They should have posted the opening on Career Builder.
