Recent losses to the Pack had way more to do with an inept offense.

Nope.

http://www.espn.com/nfl/game?gameId=400951559

Can't let a bum like Hundley go 18-25 212 yards and a TD.

Not saying the offense wasn't crap that game, it was..but they really needed the defense to dominate that game and carry them to a win.

Yup, not a fan. I've talked myself out of Fangio this season and seeing what alternatives could've been out there I think this is a bad move. Clearly a Phillips mandate that Pace and Nagy just have to live with now. I was really optimistic until now.

Three years of Fangio and has one Bears defender even made the pro bowl?

Should've hired Eli Manning as DC.

now they have to make sure Ed Donatel stays on. He's going to have another difficult job to do next year as I doubt that retain both Prince and Fuller

Want Prince, not sure we want Fuller

You franchise Fuller and make him prove it one more year. I think that decision is obvious.

I don't think Fuller will attract that much attention in FA.

See, I think that is the way to play it but after you franchise him I think he will have the cold sweats having to bet on himself being good for another year and then can be signed for a team favorable deal

Happy to have him back. Dude did a good job with guys that were either castaways, over drafted, or most likely wouldn't be able to crack a starting lineup on many other teams. People bitching about him not creating 'pro bowlers' out of a group like this either don't understand what they're looking at or are willfully ignorant. Either way, he coached pro bowlers in San Fran because that kind of talent was there and he molded it. Give him that here -like Hicks who was a washout elsewhere but flourished here and put up pro bowl numbers- and you'll get results.

There isn't one defensive guru any of you are naming that does much different with last years roster and it's injuries. Maybe slightly better or slightly worse -but the results wouldn't have varied much. Fangio is a good veteran coach that will consistently make sure your defense is competitive and prepared to play every Sunday. That's what he gives you. And if he's given real talent to work with he'll give you even more than that -he proved it in San Fran. This is a good move by the Bears.
