No. He wants to play for the Patriots.

That achilles injury probably killed his career.

Move him to safety; worked for Rod Woodson and others.

Good point.

He is a guy I'd be interested in looking at as well. However, it seem that Albert Wilson is a foregone conclusion and I think they need to make Robinson a day 1 of FA priority. That doesn't leave any room for any other FA with:

Wilson
Robinson
Meredith
White
Wheaton

Maybe there is room for one more guy but a sixth WR is usually a ST ace.

Wheaton is non-issue. They may keep him to see if he lights it up in camp and forces his way onto the team. Nagy could want a closer look and the Bears have the cap space to burn to accommodate that. The Bears will not neglect to make a move because "well we have Markus Wheaton to consider".

If one of Meredith or White ever contribute meaningfully to an NFL season again the Bears should consider themselves extraordinarily lucky. They should really move forward as if neither exist (though they wont). Going with 6 WR isn't too uncommon either. Adding Wilson, Robinson, Moncrief/Pryor/whatever PLUS a later round WR in the draft is not out of the question. The Bears have to approach the WR position as if they are starting from 0, which they kind of are.

Bears need a safety a lot less than they need a corner.

This is a brooding disaster. Their largest free agent signing is going to be retaining Fuller.

Shit better change quickly.

I'm not seeing any information on the Bears losing out on any of the players they should be targeting.

Not a lot linking them to either WR while other teams are clearly showing huge interest. Bears seem more preoccupied with Albert Wilson, Zach Fulton and Trey Burton than Watkins or Robinson.

I'm secretly hoping Pace fails to get any big name free agents again, just to see how Hub Arkush spins it. Most of the Chicago sports media seems to have so much faith in Pace, for some reason. Hub told us 3 years ago, this was gonna be a quick 2 year turnaround. :) :) :)

The negotiations officially begin in 47 mins. They better be outside the homes of Robinson and Watkins. Can't the Bears rescind the tag they put on Fuller? Hopefully they lock up a better option and then rescind the tag.

“When you look at free agency, for the most part it comes down to the money, to be honest with you,” Pace said Feb. 28. “But I think a lot of times when you look at it and you see stability with the coaching staff, you see a quarterback that's in place (that) we feel good about, I think those are all attractive traits when people view our organization.”

The QB position and coaching staff has been stable?

Both should be around for at least 3 seasons. There were many more questions last off-season. I'm excited

There is no excuse to not get Robinson. They need him more than anyone else does and they have more money to commit to him than anyone else. If they have to settle for Watkins that's OK. Not great, but not the end of the world.

Anything less is completely unacceptable. Unless Pace does something completely unforeseen it is 100% required that the Bears do something in free agency to get at least one real threat. Albert Wilson is fine and all, but he doesn't count. Nor does Marquise Lee or Paul Richardson or whatever. They need a 1.

Bellamy tendered. He'll never leave.
Meredith tendered without any compensation. Basically means they intend on keeping him no matter what.
No word yet on Callahan
Texans seem to be swooping the Bears for Fulton
Trey Burton and Albert Wilson are near locks

Momentum seems to be shifting towards SF on the Allen Robinson front, but not a lot of news the last 24 hours.

Perfectly fine with this.
I think the Bears are going after Nelson in the draft.

Look after wasting two straight first rounders on a broken bum and a basketball player closer to being 30 years old than 20 years old who cant keep his head up I dont care. Nelson doesn't bother me. I dont trust them to do anything right with that pick anyways.

I still think you’re underrating Meredith. He’s very good and there’s no reason to think his injury was career ending or altering.

I agree it’s confusing that they seem to be fine with just adding Wilson via FA.

Not saying they do, but they may believe other teams will be cutting players later to get under the cap that they would be more interested in.

Highly unlikely, but maybe.

Callahan tendered.
Bears mentioned as potential landing spot for Jimmy Graham by @rap. Still seems like Saints are natural fit.

Why hasn't there been much news on Robinson. I've been checking for a while and can't find anything.

They believe that Meredith is a 1/2 in their offense with Wilson as the slot guy. The Chiefs offense does not have that ideal #1 WR, but they believe in spreading the ball around with a focus on their TE.

I think they go with
#1 Meredith
#2 Mike Wallace, Donte Moncrief?
#3 Wilson
#4 White

Damn. I like Meredith a lot but that’s expecting a lot out of him. Ideally he’s a very good #2 imo.

I agree but that's how their offense is set up. The Patriots don't have a true #1 WR, but their best pass catcher is Gronk.
