Pace doesn't make first round picks either. I think that much is obvious.

I'm assuming Hestand is talking up one of his boys from ND and Pace is hooked already.. Both should be solid pros for a decade..can't go wrong with either imo.

looks like Trumain Johnson will hit FA with the Rams trading for Marcus Peters. I would make him a priority

I think I would have kept Demps around. Safety has about a high of a turnover rate in season as TE

Today's releases - Willie Young and, finally, Mike Glennon.

Ryan Pace is really good at purging players. Acquiring talent? Not so much imo. But go Ryan!

Would you rather he was a stubborn old mule and forced Glennon on us for more years? Or accept he admits the mistake and moves on?

Yup still see nothing wrong with the Glennon signing. Didn't hurt anything.

I understand its not my money, but there were several options out there that would have cost the Bears much less and the results likely would have been better. Certainly no worse than what Glennon did.

Pace is just kind of a dope. We have alot of cap space with many holes to fill he himself created. Can't blame Emery anymore.

The problem with Glennon wasn't the money, though it was an amazing waste. It's the fact that Pace came from a pro personnel background and thought that it was a good idea. Take a look at his list of FA signings. Way more misses than hits.

They really tried to build the team in the front 7 but inexplicably took a flashy WR #7 overall with their first pick. I'll never understand the Kevin White fascination, from the time he was scouted until finally this year (I sincerely hope they've given up) he's been their big ace-in-the-hole. If they had gotten an anchor at DE or OT with that pick they'd be in a much better position. But they have a half-built offensive line and an pretty good front-7 that is too injury prone and thin to give them what they are capable of over 16 games. I guess Leonard Williams and Brandon Scherff went before the Bears had a chance to grab them, but still White was not the correct pick.

As for Pace in free agency, Trevathan has been a fantastic free agent additon. Hicks has been ever better. McPhee wasn't a bad signing either, they got a few good years out of him he just wore out. Same applies to Freeman. Dont expect NFL free agents to give you much more than a couple years before their bodies fall apart, these guys dont hit the market until their mid-20's at the earliest and by then the clock is definitely ticking. If the Bears can find themselves another McPhee and Freeman this offseason they will see a huge improvement out of that.

You can and should expect more out of guys like McPhee when you sign them in their prime.

McPhee and Freeman were objectively either bad or straight up awful FA signings. You can excuse it by injury and/or suspension but that’s if you’re fully committed to a “process” POV. A results POV leaves no room for debate.

No way. Freeman gave them an All Pro season after the age of 30 on a backup's cap hit. To call that anything other than a success is stupid.
