I found it real interesting that he went for 2 instead of 1 in the first preseason game because it doesn't matter. Suddenly,in yesterday's game he's calling for 3 TO's in the final minute when the Bengals had possession instead of just running the clock out. The Bears ended up almost tying it up. I'm just wondering how the importance of this game is any different than the previous. I think Pace gave him a little speech about trying to win every game!

No. Preseason is practice. You hardly need to practice extra points in a game setting. You do need to practice two point conversions.

They should be going for 2 after every TD than according to that line of thinking?

I would if I were a coach, if there were no stats or metrics telling me that two-point conversion plays lead to an increased amount of injuries.

So long as they're just running really vanilla stuff, stuff they wouldn't call during the season, I don't see why it's that questionable or objectionable.

Who gives a shit?

I can't think of anything less interesting than a 2pt conversion call in a preseason game.

I don't know ... it's a fair thought to have.

Guys, your first mistake was opening up a Bears thread created by 'Pasta

I think I kind of know my NFL, Uncle Bobby.

So this thread turned away from my original thought. Nobody thought calling for 3 TO's in the final minute of a meaningless game was pushing it a little bit when the week before you acted like the score didn't matter?

There are times where it makes sense to go for two points at the end of the game rather than going for the tie. In fact, if you know you’re facing a better team, it’s definitely the preferred strategy since the more the game is extended, the more likely it is the superior team will prevail.

At least Nagy had 3 TO's left to call at the end of the 4th. A minute into the 4th quarter of the Packers-Titans game, Mike McCarthy wanted to challenge a sideline catch by the Titans that looked out of bounds but was called a good catch and had to be informed by his replay/"game management" guys that he'd already burned through all of GB's timeouts and so couldn't tro da red flag.

I imagine Nagy was simply giving his coaching staff experience running/calling late game defense/offense.
