None of Bricks dumb semantics change the fact he is 100% the best option for the Bears to hire in January.

That's the rumor but they don't seem to be putting in much effort yet.

Dan Campbell was never an OC. He had a brief stint as Dolphins HC, where he had been tight ends coach, then went back to being a tight ends coach in New Orleans before getting the Lions job.

Assuming Ferentz leaves after this season, Harbaugh will be the 2nd longest tenured Big 10 HC behind Franklin, who took over Penn State the year before Michigan hired Harbaugh

I am going to flag this next game as one indication of Eberflus as a coach. Can he keep the team interested the week after a disappointing loss that eliminated them from the playoffs?

I think that this is the most important decision of Pole's career to make. As a General Manager who I feel that up to this point has done well in the Bear's rebuild over-all, now he needs to step up and fire the coaching staff. Eberflus has some good qualities but he has really made some really dumb decisions that have cost the Bear's games that they should have won. The loss to the Browns is just the latest example. I think that the team does play hard for the most part but are coached poorly and that is Eberflus's fault.

GETZY though is the most glaring reason why this team hasn't won more games. His terrible play calling is horrible and the fact that they fail at so many short yardage plays is on him. HE IS PATHETIC.

I want Harbaugh as the HC. I understand the issue with the President of the team and his relationship with Harbaugh in the past but if true, they need to sit down and talk about the HC job of the Bear's going forward. Harbaugh is not a politician. He is a balls out football coach who knows how to build a team and WIN. Hire the man and get out of his bleeping way.

I think if you asked many prominent Michigan supporters, they wanted his ass gone long ago. Beating Ohio State and winning changes things. Just a lot of shit to put with him it seems.

Maybe try to identify the qualities that will make a good head coach, and understand those are different from the duties of DC/OC in a lot of respects, and if you find a candidate with those qualities, or potentially with those qualities, hire that guy.

This isn't like the Big XII where you can be successful with a offensive minded head coach who is completely checked out from the team as a whole.

Ditka is still the most successful Bears head coach since Papa Bear and he wasn't a OC prior to the Bears job.

I agree with all of this.

I like what I have seen from McDaniel, but I hate how people jump to be all over the latest great coach. The dude who just got fired from San Diego was that guy just a couple seasons ago. Everyone was gaga about how great he was at things, and then in a blink he is terrible and getting fired. Let's see how McDaniel does over the long haul

I agree. I guess that you can pretty much say that for any coordinator that takes a head coaching job. right? Harbaugh for me, though, would be the best bet for the Bears given his HC experience. I think that he is made for this job.

No way Poles is firing him now. He improved the defense before they traded for sweat and now they are even better. Not saying he is Championship coach but it's not off the table. He's earned the right to stay for a new QB

Eberflus seems to be a decent DC, but he is not a good HC, you see evidence of this in every game in the way the team plays.

A good HC is operating as the CEO of the team, has to overrule his OC when the play call sucks, have a 4th quarter clock management plan in place, and get after his QB and OC when they do stupid things.

The defense has been good to borderline elite for most of the season. That said, Poles can take credit for grocery shopping. Eberflus has Lovie'd the Bears pick, but he doesn't have a signature win. He beat a mediocre Goff, and bad teams that played rookie/shit quarterbacks.

This season, the Bears have blown four games they should have won. There hasn't been a game where anyone has felt comfortable when the Bears lead in the 4th quarter. Sure, the locker room likes him, but that's been true for every Bears coach except Trestman in the past 25 years. The bottom line is that Ryan Poles needs to upgrade the head coach in the offseason.

They haven't been elite for most of the season. They were shit the first 4-5 games of the season. Firing the masterbator helped. Then they were average. Then they traded for Sweat and they have put up big numbers against shitty quarterbacks and have also blown some historic leads along the way.

Hard pass. He’s proven to be a mediocre HC at best while proving he’s a solid coordinator. The 2nd problem here is repeating the pattern of potentially drafting a new QB into a position where he gets 1 year with the HC before moving in to the next coach. The Bears did this with Mitch and Fields and to an extent with Cutler before that.

Not to mention his performance against the top teams in the league is subpar, and his teams struggle to finish games and hold leads.

If you play this back they will be in no different position than they are today -lose meaningful games, win meaningless games leaving the Bears in mediocrity while this staff is here. Same goes for Fields, we know who he is now.. a QB that struggles to crack 200 yards passing per game, overthrows wide open receivers (or just flat out doesn’t see them), holds on to the ball too long, and makes mistakes late in games. That’s Justin’s identity and it isn’t changing any more than Eberflus’s identity as a mediocre HC.

This needs to change. Move on until they get it right.

What extent would that be? Cutler played under Lovie for four years. Fields may not even make it four years.
