I think he’s doing a slightly better version of the Ricketts thing, wherein Todd acted like Wrigley could be relocated to Rosemont while also publicly saying he’d never move out of Wrigley.

It’s AH or nothing. Their tax issues are cook county issues, and cook county is so damn big it’s impossible to find a realistic alternative without relocating 50 miles away.

1) Finalize a deal with Cook County and AH and move there as planned.
2) Back to the city they go and the Bears do NOT own their own stadium.
3) Buy and build in Lake or DuPage County.

Option 3 would likely be the most tax-friendly for the Bears, but they are going to lose out on the non-Football revenue streams of the property.

This is public negotiation....all signs still point to AH being the best financial win for the Bears.

I'm not sure what Warren is doing, but if it leads to the beloved staying in Chicago, I'll consider it a win. Hopefully, someone educates him on Cook County politics.

That is incredibly valuable property. It could be subdivided and sold for quite possibly more than the Bears paid.

They bought it for 200 million. They’ll be able to get that back. But only after years of paying taxes on it. So yeah, after about 5 years, once they can’t get this done, it will be a loss. But they’ll get 200 million back.

I said it at the beginning. The mccaskeys won’t get this done. In 5 years, once they realize they can’t do it, they’ll sell the bears with this land and the new owner will get it done.
