Lil Josh Allen would be the consensus #1 pick if he played at Ohio State or Alabama.

He never seemed to impress in big games. Then again neither did Josh Allen at Wyoming.

Looked great against the Huskies, but not so good against legit SEC defenses, only game I watched him in was the TN debacle.

The fact that he is the #3 QB shows the weakness of this QB class, likely a Ryan Pace type that will fall in love with him and be willing to deal tons of draft capital to move to get him.

There truly are tons of not so unrealistic scenarios where the beloved could trade back to 4 and get teams bidding against themselves to trade back a few more slots, being in the odd position having the top pick, but not needing to draft a QB opens up endless possibilities.

Same age as Fields. Big Ten to SEC transfer. Should be able to play his first season in the league and not require a red-shirt year.

I think Stroud is a better passer than Fields, but he still has those Fields like processing issues. I don't believe Young works behind anything but an elite offensive line. Anthony Richardson reminds me of Fields, and I think he would need to sit for at least a year. Intriguing talent, but ultimately a coin flip. Levis has every tool you want from a quarterback, and he had to play under less than ideal circumstances.

12 TD's and 3 picks against non-SEC

8TD's and 7 picks against SEC

That said, he is likely starting somewhere in the NFL next year.

Sadly, this is all more interesting than anything that happened on the field for the Bears this year.

Yeah, we knew what we were getting into. The Bears were competitive in nearly every game despite the talent deficiencies. That gives you some hope the coaching staff doesn't completely suck.

Levis was also playing hurt most of the year but gutted it out because he knew UK had no chance without him. His top RB was also out on a suspension. You have to add that to your consideration.

Unlike the other QB choices, UK was entirely dependent upon him. He'll know how to handle playing on a bad team. Dude can take a hit, also.

They are the exact same size, NFL arm talent, very similar prospects.

Levis would be happy if he could have an NFL career like Cutler, who like him or not, was a decent starting QB in the league for several years.

And Cutty turned out to be the best QB in a class where Young and Leinart were the more talked about prospects. I could see the same for Levis vis-à-vis Young & Stroud.

Levis is built like a machine. Cutler was built like the average guy in a bar after they turned 30. Levis is tough as nails. Cutler rides a bike in a close NFC Championship game. Levis is faster and more explosive as a runner. I believe Levis also has the edge when it comes to arm talent. Both make questionable decisions with the ball.

I kind of doubt it. Looks like Tarzan. Plays like Jane. He picked a great year to be graduating to the NFL.

Have you and Will booked a room at the Sybaris?

You do remember that Cutler was all state in Basketball in high school, and put up some very solid numbers at the Combine?

Hoping Poles has hired you as a hype man for Levis, if we can get a few NFL teams to fall in love with him half as much as you have they will trade us their entire rosters to move up to draft him.

Levis is better than a lot of people seem to think. He’s got great all around talent and played for a school that has no talent around him. He’s going to rise once the combine hits -and that’s good news for the Bears.

Imo the Bears need to hope Houston gets desperate and swaps with the Bears.. then the Bears swap with Indy. And I’d like to see both those trades include Houston and Indys 2024 1st round selections (which will both most likely be top 10 or higher picks).. this puts the Bears in a great possible position to land another #1 overall pick, evaluate Justin for 1 more season.. and take Caleb Williams if they decide Fields isn’t the guy.

If Fields is the guy, and you once again have the #1 overall pick? You trade for another haul (most likely even greater than anything you’d get this year because Williams is generational imo) and you’re in the best position possible to build an incredibly talented roster of guys on rookie contracts.

Houston is the key to all of this because it gives the Bears the opportunity to trade twice, and get 2 potential top 10 picks in next years draft.

A rare predicament surely, let it be known only five other times in NFL history has the No. 1 pick been traded before draft day. Yes, the No. 1 pick has been traded four other times after the draft, like the San Diego Chargers trading away Eli Manning to the Giants.Jan 8, 2023

There’s a reason Gabriel is reduced to tweets.. it’s not about who the Bears want to pick.. it’s about who the teams behind the Bears want to pick, and knowing the Bears will move the pick.

Houston doesn’t need to worry about the Bears picking a QB.. sure. But Houston needs to worry about Indy and all the other teams that also want to pick a QB. I’d be willing to bet Houston will have 1 QB in mind when draft day roles around, and they probably won’t be the only team eyeing that guy.

There’s a very good chance Houston moves up the 1 spot. I’d say today as it sits it’s 50/50.. but those odds will increase as the date gets closer and every team just wants ‘their guy’

Lastly, I’d add.. how many times in draft history were teams sitting in the #1 spot willing to trade out of that spot? That stat means very little to me.

There's a better QB draft class next year. Houston could just as easily trade their pick for another pick next year, stick with Davis Mills, and draft a QB next year.

The problem Houston will have here is that the Bears have the better pick. Any team hitting up Houston is going to hit up the Bears 1st.. this slightly limits the options Houston has. The only hang up I can see is if Indy decides to move with Houston instead of the Bears. This means that the Bears would be limited in who they could trade back with because they now have to move back further.

That said, I’m pretty sure once the combine roles around teams will establish who their guy is. Teams fall in love every year with QB prospects. And it’s not like Young, Levis, and Stroud are Marriota and Leinart.. they are talented players, just maybe not generational coming out of college.

Someone is going to fall in love with Levis at the combine and pro days.. and I doubt sitting this high right now Houston will bank on being high enough next year to move on one of the top QB’s

This becomes very much ‘a bird in hand’

The #1 choice if you prefer Caucasian Quarterbacks

I think Stroud is a better passer than Fields, but he still has those Fields like processing issues. I don't believe Young works behind anything but an elite offensive line. Anthony Richardson reminds me of Fields, and I think he would need to sit for at least a year. Intriguing talent, but ultimately a coin flip. Levis has every tool you want from a quarterback, and he had to play under less than ideal circumstances.

Stroud doesn't have the arm strength that Fields has nor can he throw on the run like Fields. As for Levis, looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane. He is slow and purely a back-up qb in his future.

There’s a reason Gabriel is reduced to tweets.. it’s not about who the Bears want to pick.. it’s about who the teams behind the Bears want to pick, and knowing the Bears will move the pick.

Houston doesn’t need to worry about
There's a better QB draft class next year.

I think that right now Indy will be in the driver's seat given their history with Eberflus. They have the number one receiver that the Bear's have to crave and I think that they want the talent of Young over Stroud. Ideally, Houston wants their number one pick back and gives the bears both their number ones and their number one for next year as well as their number two for this year. A bidding war between Houston and Indy for Young would be insane for the Bear's.
