Eberflus went 3-14 this season, including losing 10 straight. Locker room communication issues. Getsy was better at playcalling than Nagy but calling consecutive QB designed runs immediately after Fields sprints 40+ yards and appears tired is questionable.

If they do trade down once or twice, they would have compensation to trade with the Saints. It would be a huge upgrade. And I bet Sean Payton would scrap the archaic Tampa 2 defense.

Ownership doesn't hire the big personality types. They go with first timers who won't rock the boat.

Smith, Jauron, Nagy, Trestman, Eberflus, etc were all rookie HCs. Only fox wasn't.

They're not wired to make splash moves like this. Our next coach is currently a video game coordinator somewhere.

Sean Payton is so overrated. He was given elite tools to use for most of his time in New Orleans. He repeatedly failed. I wouldn't want him as my coach if it didn't cost draft compensation. There is no way I would give up a 1st round pick for him.

Dan Pompei was on this morning and he said he doubts Payton comes back next year because he's looking to win right away. That would eliminate the Bears

He's bringing Fangio with him. If you are the Bears and serious about winning then you "Rick Renteria" Eberflus

And hire an 80 year old football coach?

Nothing against Sean Payton, but he is not the answer at this stage of the Bears. Is he a more accomplished coach than Eberflus....absolutely yes. Is he worth giving up a draft pick to acquire....absolutely no.

100%.

They have to stop giving up draft picks and they definitely do not need to be giving them away for a coach.

You hire Payton if you want the Bears to finish 7-9 with a HoF quarterback and elite talent. Imagine what he'll do with a roster that doesn't have a HoF quarterback and has 0 players that are currently elite.

I think you bring Payton in to run football ops, not necessarily only to coach. I would have done this last year. But it's a moot point because the McCaskeys like to bring rookies in who are just happy to be first time coaches/GMs.

Sean Payton is absolutely worth a 2nd or 3rd day pick.

He's not worth a 7th round pick and $20M per year. He didn't accomplish shit playing at least 11 games a year in great weather, with a HoF quarterback, great defense, and great offensive talent around Brees. Scab Payton isn't the answer.

What great offense around Brees? I don't recall them ever having maybe more than 2 elite skill players to complement Brees. I think Payton compares favorably to Tomlin - this article breaks it down nicely:

https://www.behindthesteelcurtain.com/2 ... s-steelers

Mostly perennial playoff contenders except for when major injuries undermined their chances.

He's only 59. Let the Cowboys pay for him and then fire him after 3 years. 3 years from now it will be time to fire Eberflus after another 150 passing yards per game passing season for Fields and then we can hire Payton and draft Arch Manning to pair him with.

They kept a great offensive line, Michael Thomas, Alvin Kamara, Mark Ingram, Brandin Cooks, Marques Colston, Jimmy Graham, Darren Sproles, Joe Horn, Deuce McAllister, and Reggie Bush. You could even toss Shockey and Moore in the mix.

Sean Payton needed Bountygate to win a Super Bowl.

Alot to unpack here

The Bears gave up a 7th for that bum Kneel Harry, I'd say Peyton is worth that

I don't care how much he costs, neither should you. Coaches salaries don't count against the cap and the Bears are worth 5 billion

Who on the Bears are predicting to get so injured on the field that they only play 16 games?

Unlike the memories of a game half watched by a five year old Nas, I don’t relive that one title over and over. You McCaskey lemmings need to let that go. :D

Asterisk??? As opposed to being 3-14 in the crappiest toilet bowl in football and with no foreseeable hope ?

Justin Fields, #1 pick, most cap space in the NFL. Not saying this will translate to success, but its hope.

Also, the Crappiest Toilet Bowl in the NFL would be the NFC South, which was won by a team with a losing record.

Fields threw for the least ypg in the N.F.L.

The bears haven’t been able to draft well since before you were born. And the front office has no track record and more skepticism by most analysts.

Most cap space? You must be joking if you think the welfare family will spend anywhere close to the cap. Hell there aren’t even any fanboys here who’ve even bothered to identify free agent targets. The flop will be epic and hilarious.

Hope? More like delusion. Enjoy being perennial third or fourth place divisional failures. And breathlessly awaiting on mythical wins over Green Bay
