we will be able to outscore every opponent we can't defend and the secondary is good enough to make a big play at the end

Justin Fields has only thrown one interception in OTA 7-on-7s (that I know of)!!!

I don't think it's crazy to be optimistic. Teams surprise every year in the NFL. If you believe that Justin Fields is on the verge of becoming a super star, then why can't they win a minimum of 9 games? They have talent around him on offense now so it's time for him, in Year 3, to become that guy. The defense isn't going to be great, but the back 7 does look fairly solid. Obviously, generating a pass rush with the front 4 and consistently stopping the run will be the primary focus and that will be an issue for next season and injuries can ruin any optimism, but the NFC North is wide open, every team has holes and I expect the Bears to be a contender for the division.

I would share your optimism if you could guarantee me Fields had become an average passer.

We can't guarantee that, because he will be an above average passer this year.

you can put no worse than average in pen but I think he will be better than that

they have gotten better at every single position of the offense this off season

Last year Fields struggled in 7-on-7s, which obviously heavily favors the offense.

So the fact that the offense is dominating this year in OTAs suggests that he's made some progress.

Multiple reports say that Tyrique Stevenson has looked very good so far at corner.

-they are better, either because of new players or experience, across the entire OL
-a strong RB unit became stronger
-the WR unit has been completely renovated, with last year's starters now fighting for a roster spot
-Kmet developed at TE and they backed him up with a competent Tonyan

all that being said, it all hinges on Fields

That's obviously a ridiculous comment by Hoge. Even if Fields becomes a very good passer, any evaluation of him playing at a new level in an off-season, non-contact drill is not serious. Hoge tried to downplay his own comment, but then went on to say something stupid.

Even better was Laurence Holmes aruging that Jaylon Johnson doesn't need to go to this week's workouts because it's voluntary and he already knows the defense. By that logic, most NFL teams would have nobody in attendance. Almost all players show up at these whether they want too or not, but Johnson doesn't need too. I need to stop listening to that show, but they say such ridiculous things each day that it's hard to not want to hear what their insight will be.

I tend to agree...I don't think they will be worse, but I don't see some drastic spike in talent on the roster. Any of the draft picks will need at least a year of development.

QB is most important, but I'll hold out optimism until I saw Fields perform like an accurate passing QB. His running skills are impressive, but he's going to have a short career if that continues.

The difference between the receivers that he had the last two years and current is great. The weakness of his offensive lines also is also huge.To seriously dismiss those to factorsin evaluating Fields as a qb is weak. He has to step up and answer the questions.ALL QBS do and he is no different but the upgrade in talent from the last couple of years to me is great.

Of course you don't. You're a Saints fan who shits on the Bears every chance you get. The Bears could go 15-2 and win the Super Bowl and you and Caller Bob would still find reason to bash the team.

And you're the best kind of meatball Bears fan. Bitter and delusional about a team that only cares about their bottom line. And fwiw that wasn't shitting on them, but an observation on the groupthink around here. But you get triggered and go flying into your usual irrationality.

No, it's a collector's item.

As long as you dominate the Panthers, I'll be happy.
