Well the Chargers job is currently open, the Bears job isn't. That's a benefit to firing a coach and naming in interim to close out the season, you can get a jumpstart on the process.

Harbaugh is the new "let's fire Smith/Trestman/Fox and hire Cowher" candidate. This will run its course for a few years until Harbaugh is replaced by another desired candidate who will never come here. My guess for the next one would be future Kyle Shanahan.
