The Chargers apparently saw the same thing I see with the Bears LB's, they drop way too deep into zones and are slow to read and react, making them suckers for screens and flat passes to backs. Chargers killed them with two plays, screen to Eckler and flat pass to Eckler or TE, not sure where the highly paid MLB was, but he tap danced on his way to contact, this defense cannot function with soft MLB play, this looks like a big miss by Poles.

Teams are easily able to read when the Bears are in base Cover 2, and there is no pass rush, so it's just pitch and catch with gaping open zones because the Bears players are not at landmarks and do not recognize and rally to tackle.

There is really no reason for Robinson to be in the DE rotation, it was a reach for a guy with the traits Poles likes, but he is a liability and is taking away snaps from legitimate NFL DE's.

You can see why Bagent was not drafted, arm talent is below average, he could be a very solid and inexpensive back up for you for years.

It will be interesting to see what the next coaching staff does with the DB's, but it's for damn sure he will replace almost the entire defensive line and find a veteran safety to anchor the back end.

On a team with a lot of salary expenses, a reasonable offensive line and a good all purpose running back, Bagent is a good low budget #2 QB. He can game manage for a couple of weeks and keep things close enough for your skill players to steal a win.

The Bears have neither a reasonable offensive line nor a good all purpose running back, and their shit for brains defense puts Bagent in a situation where he has to keep playing to his weakness which is sideline routes.
