DePaul games.

Right, exactly. How many Final Fours are there? How many acts do stadium tours? It reminds me of the artful dodging around Arlington Park: somehow it's not a big deal if there are big crowds pouring onto the roads ten times a year, but also there are going to be enough events to not only pay for a domed stadium but also sustain a giant strip mall around it. Which is it? Neither, God willing.

i would like to see a 100,000 seat stadium if its basketball, or the seats fold in for 85k if its football, and for other events the seats fold all the way in, leaving a gigantic indoor space. with that, you would qualify for the olympics.

Pistons played in the 80,000 seat Silverdome for years. Awful venue for anything other than monster truck pulls, wrestling and football on Thanksgiving. Basketball setup involved putting up a giant curtain to block off much of the arena.

Part of a weird run of the NBA in domed stadiums that also included the Sonics at the Kingdome, the Spurs at the Alamodome, and the Timberwolves at the Metrodome:

They could if they had half a brain. Unfortunately, they're half a brain short.

Luxury suites, premium seating and the new field-level suite experience generate more revenue per sq foot than plebe seats.

At this point, non-suite/non-premium seating for ambiance and throwing a bone to regular fans.

Suites sell no matter how the team is doing and they sell out years ahead of time on long-term deals with the buyers. Although the highest revenue generators are apparently the limited number
of per game suites the teams set aside for groups to pay for one-off and not have to invest in a full season suite.

Plus the chance to up-sell folks in suites is much greater than to Joe Six-Pack squished elbow to elbow in his individual 22 inches of seating space.

Why wouldn't they plan for both a greater seating capacity and more suites?

Isn't that what Jerry Jones did when he built his stadium?

Yep and he is printing money, it just takes intelligence. Oh wait….

Fuck look at Packerland!!!

You appear to be correct. Apparently, the only person dumber than the McCaskeys is the guy they hired to be the brains of their operation.

I once attended a baseball game at the Kingdome. It was the most dull and soulless sporting venue in which I have ever step foot. I cannot imagine what it would have been like for basketball.

Yeah, that's when the T-Wolves were just opening every section of the Metrodome no matter how dumb so that they could break attendance records.

I like the little Family Fun Fair behind the stands and next to the rolled-up astroturf.
