I have to wait until next week to decide whether I am hopeful for this team. During the entire game, everytime I got excited my brain kept reminding me they were playing the Lions. I hope this wasnt just a mirage.

Does anyone remember Martz' Ram offense. Were they ever much of a line it up and smash mouth with Faulk, or was it more based on spreading everyone out with the threat of a throw and then run?

I faintly remember Martz' offenses being bad in the red zone

i remember a stat in one rams game, for some reason it sticks out...Marshall Faulk - 7 rushes, 78 yards.

Lovie has a little Ditka in him. Mike would say: "If you can't punch it in 4 times from the half yard line, you don't deserve to win."

Lovie's head is spinning right now. He doesn't know what to do.

He thinks people want him to be one kind of guy so he needs to do things differently to keep his job.

He just doesn't know what they are. That makes him very dangerous.

Maybe I just had a pitcher of Kool-Aid,but I think if the offense does not turn the ball over, the defense will destroy Romo: Bears 24-10 over Dallas.

After the evident preparedness and multifaceted dominance displayed in the Lions game, Lovie said that he won't change a single thing in regard to his game-to-game strategy against future opponents    can this guy just leave now???!!

I think the D-Line isn't bad. LB & DB's another story.

On Offense,Stafford & his bkup look better then most Duo's in the NFL.
WR's pretty much disappeared against the Bears until that final drive.

I assume that you are an adult. Why do you constantly call people names? Didn't you learn any manners?

The Lions are by far the worst team in the NFL, especially with the loss of Stafford.

Who do you think is worse?

JohnKirk,

The Rams, Browns, Raiders are all worse than the Lions.

You are still an asshat, asshat.

The Lions might be the most improved team in the NFL this year. They will win 3 more games than last year.

without stafford the lions could easily be as bad as those three teams; and in fact, the rams *may* improve to just above shitty. i think the raiders are probably the worst, though.

The Lions maybe in the conversation, but it is not just a given that they are the worst.

My way of thinking as I stated in another thread, the Bears suck but most of the teams they play suck worse. I see a 10-6 season.

Another prediction does not look so crazy now. Every team in the NFL has some issues. The Bears are playing with 4 Pro Bowlers on Defense. I am surprised how good the passing game has looked. I hope it keeps up.

I will be suprised if the Bears are not 7-1 or 6-2 half way through the season. I imagine the Packers will beat them. Also, Giants on the road will be a test. After that is two very winnable road games and two at home against teams they should beat.

The second half of the season worries me.

I now feel slightly better about the Bears. They still can't run the ball which will end up killing their defense over time - as well as cost them late in games when they need to hold the ball.

I'm still not sold that the O-line can pass protect. I'm still not sure that the Bears "figured something out" yesterday as much as the Cowboys just inexplicably decided to call off the dogs.

3rd down efficiency was non-existent. They can't get a yard to save their life.

And, I still hate the "let's give up 500 yards of offense and hope for a good ball-punch" defense that is a Lovie trademark.

But, they definitely have some good pieces. Cutler, when he has time, can put the ball right on the money. He had some tremendous throws yesterday.

Briggs and Urlacher look like they are 24 years-old. They are both flying around the field making plays.

The defense can definitely stop the run. I was a little disappointed with the pressure from the defensive line as I thought they'd have a pretty big day yesterday.

But, overall, I'm starting to think this team could win 10 games and actually make the playoffs before summarily getting destroyed. I'm not there yet. 8-8 - if Cutler doesn't get killed which still seems very likely.

Not to be a downer here but this team probably should be 1-1 with a loss to the Lions.

They seemed to look really good yesterday, but the Cowboys may be a bad team too.

The complete randomness of the NFL amazes me. I don't know if it's a good thing though.

A win in Dallas is always a good win.

Enough of this "should have lost to the Lions" business. As I have said several times, it is the Lions who would have been lucky to walk out of that game with a win.

I do think that yesterday's win was a good one, and it has given me a bit of confidence in the team overall. I know that things could have been very different if Dallas' coaching staff had a clue and Romo was a bit sharper on some of his passes, but that's a whole different story. I completely agree with the frustration in seeing our defense give up huge plays time and time again, and of the offense's ineffectiveness on third down. Cutler was protected a bit more, but it is very worrisome that the O-line can't get enough of a push to get us just one or two rushing yards when needed. Next Monday will be a nice test for the Bears

Cutler has far exceeded my expectations so far this season. His performance yesterday was unbelievable given the severity of the punishment he absorbed.

I agree. It's only two games but he looks like he is thriving in the Mike Martz style instead of it being a detriment to his game.

If the offense keeps clicking but the team still misses the playoffs I can already see Mike Martz being promoted to head coach.

Exactly. I predicted that Martz would be a candidate to be the next Bears head coach a few Months ago. It would be the typical easy move for the Bears. However, it would break the Bears streak of never having hired a head coach with head coaching experience at the NFL level though.
I would love to hear the real Mike Martz, not the sanitized Lovie version.
