Where is JohnKirk bitching about him today?

He has been playing really well. He has made a huge impact on this defense and he was the right guy to sign in the offseason.

He made his "who in the world could have predicted such stellar play from Peppers and such a great record for the Bears?" post last night.

Bunch of my friends were all over Peppers for his sack numbers, so it was nice to have him pad those last night.

But again, I could count a handful of plays (including the tipped pass) that had just as much, or more of an impact on the game than the sacks. But I guess sacks are all some care about. Oh well.

I think that's correct. He's had some fine games without necessarily getting the sacks. Then you get a game like tonight and it evens out again.

I haven't studied it enough to say that this is definitely true but hasn't he been significantly better in the national television games and the game against Carolina which obviously was a "payback for not paying me" game?

Is he able to take it to another level in games like that or does he find it harder to get motivated for a noon Sunday game?

He's not getting many sacks but he's making the bum on the other side look like a player.

Exactly. He's had some great games where he hasn't had the sacks, but Idonije has. Somebody else posted that when Peppers is on the field, more often than not the other 10 guys on D are going up against 9 on offense because they are double teaming Peppers.

Also, because I don't feel like starting a new thread, doesn't last season and this season dispel a lot of the "Urlacher is overrated" BS? He's probably a good 2011 season away from the HoF, and he might not even need that.

Urlacher being injured kept him a year younger basically. Him and Briggs playing as well as they have this year has been great fun to watch.

Completely agree IB. That whole BS with Urlacher being overrated and people wanting to get rid of him was ridiculous. We saw last year how bad this D is without him in the middle.

Peppers had a Tyrus Thomas "Bumslayer" night against a 2nd string o-line, a 3rd string qb and an injured guy but it's hardly his fault that's all the Dolphins had left. He still was the best player on the field.

On Izzy's sack, Peppers occupied the TE, the OT and the RB.

Ralphy Boy,

Here is my post from last night. IB is paying more attention that you are.

Now THAT is what they payed Peppers for. He was outstanding tonight. I call 'em as I see 'em & I gotta say, this team is proving me & most everyone else wrong & I'm starting to feel pretty good about this bunch. This looks & feels very similar to 2006 with the Defense dominating opponents, & the offense doing a jekkyl & hyde where you never know if they are going to show up or not, & erratic QB play. If the defense continues to play this way they'll win a couple of games as underdogs.
Imagine how good this team might be if Angelo had made at least 1 decent high draft pick in the last 5 years!

Bearssss.....Ditka.....Sausage.....
