Trent Dilfer was the #6 pick in the draft. He wasn't some undrafted scrub. It's tough to remember that given how he's thought of as the backup/savvy veteran type, but he was supposed to be a can't-miss type of prospect.

Wow. 1994 might be the worst draft in NFL history. This is the top 10:

Dan Wilkenson
Marshall Faulk
Heath Shuler
Willie McGinest
Trev Alberts
Trent Dilfer
Bryant Young
Sam Adams
Antonio Langham
Jamir Miller

Faulk was great and there were some decent, useful pieces in there but that's pretty awful.

After Shuler and Dilfer, the next QBs taken were Perry Klein, Doug Nussmeier, Jim Miller, Gus Frerotte, Jay Walker, Steve Matthews, and Glenn Foley.

A kid out of Northern Iowa named Kurt Warner went undrafted.

A fun Jim Miller story. When he was a Bear we saw him at the Davis Street Fish Market and he ordered shark.

IB I thought the same thing about Hester. I think he isn't very good at speaking in public/ in front of the cameras. It was pretty cool hearing him give props to all the special teams guys.

The Devin Hester returns were things of beauty in the 3rd quarter. He nearly ran the second half opening kickoff back for a TD, while his 64 yard punt return that gave the Bears a 27-7 lead on the Vikings was the play of the game for me last night. It also started quite a debate this morning on "The Dan Patrick Show".

The poll question on DanPatrick.com asked Hester will make the Pro Football Hall of Fame when his career ends. As it stands now, while all 4 of Dan's staff feel #23 will make the Hall, Dan and two of his guests, NFL/FOX Sports' analysts Tony "Goose" Siragusa & Troy Aikman, weren't so sure the "Windy City Flyer" is worthy of induction. 57% of those on the poll on the show's home page, myself included, isn't so sure Hester's HOF worthy.

A lot of those guys played a lot of years - Faulk, McGinest, Adams, Young, Big Daddy.

I remember reading about that draft in sports illustrated. The Patriots were not all that thrilled with having to select Irving Fryar, who I think had some issues.
