I heard this once again on Matty's show.
What about Sid Luckman? No. 33 on the NFL Network's Top 100.

Great for the time he played in, but not in terms of stats. Which is Bernsie's measuring stick. I think.

Is he really better than Erik Kramer?

He was the best QB in Bears history before he even took a snap two years ago.

Steve Walsh had an ok run...so did Steve Fuller. They almost seemed like the same quaterback with same number in a way. Haven't looked at their stats, so I might get shot down by IB.

Edit: Walsh only played 13 games with 8-3 record and 60% comp. :eye:

Best backup QB's in Bears history?

Steve Fuller beat the Washington Redskins AT Washington in the 1984 playoffs. It is still the most exciting Bear game I ever watched.
Steve seemed like a good guy, too.

They say Jimbo is our man.
If Jimmy can't do it, I sure can.
This is Steve, and it's no wonder
I run like lightnin', pass like thunder.
So bring on Atlanta, bring on Dallas,
This is for Mike and Papa Bear Halas.
I'm not here to feather's ruffle,
I just came here to do
The Super Bowl Shuffle.

I will be playing that little video before the Bears playoff game. It still brings a tear to my eye. Bragging and backing it up....so American! GOD BLESS THE 85 BEARS!

The only one gayer than that was Fencik's. I'm on my man, one on one.

rick mirer was my favoritest bears quarterback ever.

he went 0-3 in his 3 starts, racking up 0 TDs and 6 INT en route to a 37.7 rating. he averaged 7.9 yards per completion en route to a stunning 60 yards a game average! that's how chad hutchinson comes in here and electrifies us with a good game, leading to us actually giving chad hutchinson a chance to be "the guy" in chicago.

as for jay, he's obviously got the most raw tools of any bears quarterback in their long and proud history... but it's akin to derrick rose being the #2 player in bulls history: barring injury or apocalypse or some kind of unfathomable suckage jay should pretty easily be the best quarterback in bears history.

/me remembers the old headlines "does p.t. stand for playing time?" BEAR DOWN CHICAGO BEARS!

It's probably pretty comfortably Luckman. Comparing stats over from that era to today is unhelpful. Have to compare against peers.

It's unfortunately the tallest midget category.

When the best QB since McMahon is Erik Kramer you don't have much of a history.

And honestly he was a great leader and such but I'm not so sure Jimmy Mac was all that great as far as a QB goes. You have to wonder what he would have been without the injuries.
