Find a good punter isn't easy. Kicking has been something the Bears haven't had to worry much about in the past 5+ seasons. Finding a replacement isn't simple.

He had a number of good years but I think it was time to move on and find
someone for the future. The thing I'll miss about Maynard was his ability to
put it inside the 20. He wasn't a booming kicker when you were in your own
end but he was very good when pinning the opponent down.

As V said, he was great from close to the 20 but anything deep in his own zone meant the other team was getting great field position.
