1st round buster. Got no problem with signing the guy as long as it is for the minimum.

Baltimore won a Super Bowl with Dilfer, not because of him.

Benson proved he was not a bust and he wasn't. Just a terrible fit, in a terrible situation and he was responsible for it as much as anyone, but T Jones didnt exactly help it get any better.

Just like the Sox won a World Series with Kenny, not because of him.

Dilfer actually had some servicable years with Tampa and Benson was not great, but he wasn't terrible either and his off field shit sealed his fate. If he got the attempts with the Bears that he got with the Bengals he would have similar stats. Gholston has been complete shit.

Define "Made it". I would think being the starting QB on a superbowl team would erase his bust status.

If he had put together some quality seasons, he wouldn't be a bust. He was the QB because he was the least awful of the options available. That team could've run Shane Matthews or Jim Miller out there and probably have won that Super Bowl.

Make a team and contribute to their success as a starter. Defining bust is more important though. A bust is leinhart or Jamarcus. Dilfer wasn't a first round savior but I don't think he was a bust.

Signing Gholston would be very Bear-like. Vernon Gholston is a stiff.

I agree that Gaines Adams is currently about as useful as Gholston.

Living in NY and the Jets being my 2nd favorite team I can say without hesitation that Gholston is a bum. Typical Bears signing.

This. Great measurables, absolute dogshit football player. I'd be stunned if he lasted through TC.

Sounds like a similar pick up to the late Gaines Adams.

I was up a last night trying to catch any Bears news that I could, and low and behold Hunter Hillemeyer was on NBC with Paula Farris and Adamle. Anyone catch this? Hunter was pretty forthcoming in stating that Gholston was a bum. As a #6 first round pick he was going to be given every opportunity to succeed and he failed every time. Hunter was not impressed at all with this signing. I was pretty surprised how Hunter went after the guy considering he is still contemplating a return to football (not happening) OR a very recent retiree. I think we will probably see more of him. Well spoken and good hair.
