Tom Brady is a complete douchebag, is horribly smug to reporters, and obviously doesn't think his shit stinks very much.

Of course, people look past that because he's got a few rings.

I agree with many people on the board here; if Cutler wins football games, then his attitude or persona doesn't matter.

While Cutler and Orton had similar QB ratings last year, let's take a closer look at how those ratings were compiled.

Specifically the ones cut-and-pasted below. Looks like a lot of garbage-time padding for Orton.

Apparently only one URL allowed per post, so here's the Orton link.

That's a really lame way to try and massage stats to your benefit. If you want to believe that Orton is much worse and just took advantage of a defense that didn't care that's fine but I think that's silly.

Espn did a little training camp spot on him and the Bears this morning and of course he didn't speak with reporters and instead walked right by them tending to a cell phone call.

Jay Cutler didn't talk to ESPN?

That's it. I'm no longer a Bears fan now.

I like Cutler's personality. And I don't really care what the media says about him. I kinda compare it to the way Frank Thomas was treated. The media gave him all these labels based on their limited experiences with him and their views on what he said and pretty much shoved that down everyone's throat. Thanks for your opinion, but I don't care. I'd prefer to hear about the play on the field.
As far as Cutler on the field goes, I think he did pretty well last year considering the circumstances. Numbers tell part of the story, but obviously not all. You need to watch the games with an unbiased eye. Yes, the offensive line was absolutely awful. The receivers are sub par. And the game plan requires specific talents at certain positions... none of which the Bears had, except at quarterback. And Jay Cutler was... meh. Sometimes good, sometimes not. I like the stone soup comparison. And it's a great way to look at it if you hate Cutler. But it's not completely accurate. Sure, if you put any NFL level quarterback behind a great O line and give him 2 or 3 star wideouts, you'll probably see a pro bowl season for the QB. But that's not the point. Take the stones out of the soup and you solve the problem ... yes. But it's not so black and white. The point is that Jay Cutler doesn't have stone soup. He has stone soup, shit salad and a big plate of vomit for the main course. It's not one problem. And ALL the problems don't need to be solved to make him better. I honestly think if you give him anything at all positive, you'll see a huge improvement in his play. How about a game plan that is actually doable with the talent on this team OR a solid O line OR a strong #1 receiver. I really don't think it'll take much. I think that's the difference in the Aaron Rogers comparison. Sure, I think their (Packers) offensive line sucks. But replace Driver and Jennings with garbage, change the offense each of his first 2 years from a west coast to the Martz system and I don't think we'd be looking at the Aaron Rogers. Granted, I do think he's better than Cutler anyway, but I don't think he's had quite the same obstacles that Cutler's had.
So here's the problems. Mike Martz is still here, he's still gonna run his system and the Bears still don't know if the O line has the talent to run it. And then there's Roy Williams. He's supposed to be the #1 guy. OK, if you say so. But to me, if this offensive line ends up sucking the way they did last year, Lovie better beat some sense into his O coordinator a little earlier this year than last year and start running some plays that are based closer to reality than what he'll run regardless of his chances for success are. Otherwise, despite another shitty offensive line, below average receivers and a ridiculous gameplan that can be executed by nobody but the 2000 Rams... the Bears WILL suck, and Jay Cutler will be the only reason for it according to all the meatballs out there.
