The last 3 were layups and the one before that was an 8-8 season. The last 3 teams were supposed to win a SB and they only made it there once. They got slaughtered even though they were the favorites to win. That's underachieving in my world. If you gave a coach like Harbaugh or Belichick the same talent they would be working on their 3rd SB in a row.

Your have the same response to everything: he won when he was supposed to win and when he didn't win he should have won.

When was the last time your beloved Belicek won a Super Bowl? How many Super Bowls did Jim Harbaugh win?

It's a fact. The Broncos teams were built for the Super Bowl. They weren't built for 2 playoff wins in 3 years. Jim Harbaugh came up short but he overachieved in nearly all of those seasons. Belichick is right there at the end every season. They didn't have anywhere near the talent the Broncos had. I am actually surprised how they continue to win. Brady has 1 great player on offense and a bunch of other players who are average at best.

It's not a fact, it's an opinion and not a widely held one.

The 49ers did not meet expectation this year. The 49ers lost the Super Bowl as 4 point favorites the previous year, which, under your standards, is underachieving. Kapernick was in place when Harbaugh arrived and so was the defense that made them the team they were. I think Harbaugh is a great coach.

Belicek is right there at the beginning of every season as well...and no Super Bowls in 11 years. Belicek is also a great coach in my opinion.

This was a safe CYA hire.

Pace saw what happened to Emery. He's guaranteeing himself a 2nd coach by hiring Fox.

good point. pace will never have egg on his face for this hire. if it doesnt work, it will all be on fox.

makes sense now why pace is doing this. he has, and always will do whatever it takes to make himself look good.

I think this is a good situation for a safe hire -- a fucking mess that needs to be cleaned up by somebody who is competent.

It's a fact the last 3 Broncos teams were built to win a SB. Do you really disagree with that? IMO they were the most talented team in the NFL.

Being a favorite in the SB doesn't necessarily mean you underachieved for the season.

The Patriots haven't been very talented. IMO the only year they clearly underachieved was the season they were undefeated in. Sustained success is what makes Belichick great. He kept winning even when Brady got hurt.

This was a hire that appeals to Sweaty/McCaskey.

His next hire will be his.

The way they've done things recently he may not get another hire. The last 2 GM's only had 1 hire.

I thought he was a guy Harbaugh targeted in the draft. He did have the pieces in place on defense though.

I think this is a bad move by the Bears if they hire Fox. B&B keep saying it is a great hire, but haven't really explained well enough why that is. Yes, he's experienced, but there's plenty of experienced guys in the NFL. Yes, he had some success in Denver the last four years, but who wouldn't with all the talent the guy had. His expertise is supposedly on defense, but he's not going to be calling defenses or offensive plays. So where's the value? He'll just be a guy out there, not really doing anything while his assistants run the show.

The Bears need less of a figurehead like Fox and more of a young, tough-minded and charismatic coach. If the Bears want to be tough again, then they should chose Austin from Detroit as the new HC.

Glad Fox has finally brought discipline to this team. A less disciplined team would have broken the Bears penalty yardage record instead of just tying it.

1 game doesnt make or break a head coach. Bad coaches win games as underdogs every weekend. Tresty won a couple. That didn't make him a great coach.

I believe that most football experts would say that Fox is a better head football coach than Milkdud.

You think that Lovie is awful, despite the facts saying otherwise. When somebody points out that he won in NO today, you sarcastically say "Lovie is the greatest coach ever. HOF bound!" There is no middle ground, or gray area with you. Everything is balck and white.

Slowly and carefully, read back the posts I quoted, starting with Kirkwood's, working down to your last post. It should be clear, but something tells me that you still won't understand my point.

Coach Milkdud? Elmhurst Steve vibe.

I'm not on board with getting rid of Fox yet -we need way more time and games to evaluate him and this staff.

I feel differently about Pace tho, it's early and he's already made some really odd decisions. Would consider firing.

You might want to go find a baseball bat and give your head 4 or 5 good whacks.

Has that worked well for you in the past? Why are you recommending this course of action?

I'll give you 1 response to sell me on this. I'm pretty open minded after all.

Fox might be taking the "last big $ contract" before an easy semi-retirement analyst gig.
