Sixth leading scorer in UMass basketball history and a pretty good singer, also formerly on American Idol. Was at the Operation Support Our Troops concert on Saturday. I had no idea who she was but she was in our suite. Apparently she also sings the national anthem at 76ers games. Also was front row for Skynyrd. Say what you want about their politics, but Tuesday's Gone is a fantastic song. |

Sweet Home Alabama is the auditory equivalent to a wire hanger abortion performed in a shady clinic in Chinatown at 3 AM. |

Tuesday's Gone is good though. Who thought of wire hangers for an abortion? I mean, I guess it helps with getting clogs out of sinks, maybe someone put that together with getting babies out of the uterus. |

I'm afraid dolphin is more right than wrong on this one, though saying it's one of the greatest only works if you aren't really trying to quantify it so much as just say it's a well-known and well-regarded song that's stood the test of time (40+ years). If it helps, the song takes a moment of time to shit on, not celebrate, George Wallace as well as Nixon & Watergate ... MANY people think the lyrics are pro-Wallace, though MANY less think it's pro-Nixon. Plus Neil Young many years later said he very much deserved the response that this song was. It also references the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section (aka 'The Swampers') ... kinda sorta a little like the southern equivalent of The Wrecking Crew. Plus, Warren Zevon ripped the song off entirely (excepting the lyrics)!  Point is it's far more good than bad. |
