He came to watch his alma mater play hoops last night.

He showed up just after Young Crest scored at the buzzer to give his team the victory in the sophomore game.

Obama's worst cabinet appointment during his tenure. Arne and his "Common Core" can fuck off.

I used to see him play basketball at Avalon Park years ago. He had a nice stroke and was sneaky athletic.

His son can shoot, but he is not athletic.

I'm not sure he scored a basket last night. He can't create his own shot.

Nesbitt can though.

Listened to him on an interview on the podcast "People I mostly Admire" a while back- interesting, sharp guy.

If he actually decides to run for mayor- and if he does I have no doubt the money and power will line up behind him and he'll win- he isn't really as sharp as you think. Who the fuck would want that job? Rahm found out the hard way.

He is definitely running for mayor. He has all of the positioning behind him, including Axelrod.

There is nothing in his background that suggests that he's worthy of a vote. His tenure at CPS suggests he's not trustworthy.

Of course not. Has that ever stopped David Axelrod from supporting someone?

It is pretty sad how much relevance he's now had for decades.

Our next mayor will be an Hispanic alderperson. Which one? That will be worked out.

That seems like a logical thought but I don't think it will happen. The most popular ones are the socialists and that isn't going to fly in the black neighborhoods or on the Northwest side. And no Hispanic machine guy is going to beat out Duncan or whoever Preckwinkle backs or probably even Vallas.

I don't think Duncan or even Daley can Pritzker their way to the seat. At the grassroots level, there are a few very popular potential Hispanic candidates. If they can figure out how to coalesce around 1 candidate, I think they easily defeat a divided field. Besides, the old guard is clearly losing some of their influence.

With Lightfoot having named a Hispanic brother in charge of CPS, I think she blunted the momentum this go round. Next term she'll hopefully get rid of the leftovers at Streets and San.

I agree that what you're saying makes sense. And maybe you're right. The unions didn't help Preckwinkle. I just can't see who the Hispanic candidate would be. It's not that law and order guy who goes on with Tucker. I don't think it could be one of the socialists either. Maybe an Hispanic who isn't an alderman. Like Susana Mendoza or Omar Duque. But who knows if they would even want to run. Like I said, the job sucks. I'm not sure anyone can really be successful in it right now. But after Lightfoot, maybe the bar is so low anyone will look great.

Lopez from the 15th obviously wants to run, but he's waiting to see what he can get to let Duncan lose this time around. Lopez would need NW and SW side white support to win, and if Duncan doesn't self destruct the best Lopez can do is split that support.

That's the guy that's on Tucker all the time.

Latinos may have 1/3 of the population but not 1/3 of the voters.

I think this is going to be a backlash election.

Backlash against whom? All I see is an increasingly spreading Hispanic community that outside of the Little Village seems good for the city. At least out south.

She named a Hispanic guy in charge of CPS, has kept of city services to all communities and seemingly been inclusive to most outside of the Reagan Democrats of the far northwest and southwest sides.
