Jeff Tweedy hasn't put together a damn impressive body of work. Uncle Tupelo and Wilco have. Without Nels Cline or the two Jays, Tweedy is either self-indulgent (A Ghost Is Born) or exasperatingly boring (Sukierae). But when he has the right partners, he's terrific. |

What's "his own stuff"? The band's best two albums were as much Jay Bennett's as they were his, and Sky Blue Sky was fully collaborative. I still love Tweedy (as in Jeff Tweedy, not his "solo project"), but he needs other voices in the room to thrive. |
