How long is this trial gonna take? Seems like something so simple that could be done in one day.

It's not about the money. In a very general nutshell ... if he doesn't "fight" against unauthorized usage of his image/brand/whatever, eventually he would lose all rights to it. I'd like to think he'll give some/all of it to charity or something like that.

 I don't think that fucker has every donated a dime unless it was at the blackjack table.

Anyway, he's already won and "protected his image". Now he's just trying to squeeze out some cash.

It is almost as if I said this repeatedly yesterday in the B&B show thread.

I'm not a trial guy but trial's aren't a situation where you block out 8-10 hours of a day and just go at it. The judge, witnesses and attorneys all have other items on their calendars and it is taxing to the arbiters to have to listen to the info. So you might agree to 2 hours on Monday for opening arguments, 3 hours on Tuesday for plaintiff's witnesses, 4 hours on Wednesday for defendants and 2 hours on Thursday to close

I've been on a jury where we knocked it out in a day. It was a similar trial about a contractor and the amount of money owed to him. Took about 6 hours.

Jury selection alone is rarely done in a day. That's why arbitration is so big these days. The judges retire with gold-plated pensions and then make tons of easy dough on top of it doing alternative dispute resolution where they make middle of the road decisions that leave everyone not completely unhappy. Highly recommended.

MJ is a really generous guy when he tips and just gives people money. I think he would probaby do more stuff and donate more if it wasnt such a pain in the ass for him....The only ads he does now are for the companies that supprted him early in his career, thats why he stays with them. Gatorade, Nike, Hanes. To a point, he is doing them a favor. The guy could be doing ads all day.

Seen him buy coffee with $100 and leave the change, gives guys a $100 who are just a bum on the street....essentially, I dont think he carries anything less than $100's...gives the guys at UNnamed Country Club a lump sum at the end of the season that take care of his car and in the locker room. When he first joined that CC, people did ask what he tipped, then the rumors started he didnt tip anyone. Then at the end of the season, I think the locker room guy got $10K to split among them...I think 2 FT guys...and the parking guys got a ROLL of cash as well.

Jordan told the press he wanted to take a “more personal and less institutional” approach to financial giving, and that he’d rather “pick and choose to whom I give my donation.”

MJ is the guy who sees the Bball team that needs new uniforms and gear, and he just makes it appear...but makes sure his name is not attached to it.

HOWEVER, he is VERY Frugal in business. He almost never invests in anything. Why would he, he has 30 proposals on his desk for him to get a part of deals if they can use his name.

Might say, my guy was one of the very few people that didnt give a "MJ Credit" for using his name when they built his house. "I cant order a pizza with an MJ credit"

This is exactly what I am talking about. he tips probably better than anyone....ever...in the history of tipping!!!!

Drops 100's on the guys that clean his clubs....

Saw him tip the Caddy Kids....they say THANK YOU....Jordan mumbles with a cigar in his mouth "Dont thank me, thank him....it's his money" referring to the guy he played with that day.

"It was never about the money"....Lawers?

if he didnt pursue the action, does that set precedent legally speaking so others could do similar actions as Dominicks?

I do believe it wasnt about the money, as if you offered Jordan $5 mill to come to chicago for no other reason and he needs to sit in a meeting (or court) for 3 days, he wouldnt.

Its a simple equation. You give MJ $$$ + % for putting his name on the door and you indeminfy him for all risks....then if he likes the product or idea, you have a deal!!

I know he gave the author/photographer of the RARE AIR book a $500K bonus or let him keep the royalty check.

That's how I interpreted it. He can't go sue the next guy who is even more blatant, and maybe associating Jordan with something even more horrible than Dominick's awful meat department.

He's donating the award to charity...is that after his lawyers get paid?

And isn't Jewel next? -- I think they ran a similar ad. Guess they will look to settle...

How did I miss this thread?

I was there too. Saw him walkin out of federal court a couple times. Fuck, I even went into the courtroom and watched him there!

I could never forget when someone in the courtroom mentioned his first unretirement in 1996, he bit his lip on his huge famous poker smile. I smiled right along with that.

Probably I would remember good dolphin if I knew your face.
