Was just coming here to post the same thing. Fucking brutal. Yeah, lets worry about a pitcher with pine tar on his hat, but keep this jackass behind the plate calling balls and strikes. |

He has to be union protected, there is no way baseball doesn't want to get rid of this jackass for many reasons. |

Is there ever a game he's working in which he doesn't have an awful call? Just got one overturned in the first fucking inning and it wasn't particularly close. |

Thats pretty bad. But it's Angel. You have to know when he's an umpire in a game youre in that his calls will be terrible. |

not for nothing but while its clearly a ball and angel hernandez will likely be known as the worst up ever, schwarbs loves to get rung up while not swinging. |

Angel Hernandez sucks and doesn't get the benefit of the doubt, but based on those highlights, Schwarber absolutely should have been 100% ready for that pitch to be called a strike. |

I've had a long time beef with umpires who have their own strike zone. The whole "he's been calling that a strike the whole game" excuse doesn't fly with me. Why do I as a professional hitter, have to change my entire routine because the umpire refuses to be professional? That crap can have a hangover effect. Next thing you know, you're chasing for the entire series. |

You can justifiably complain about it as a professional hitter all you want, but is it an "excuse" or a "fact?" When it's called a strike in the first inning and it's called a strike in the 9th inning (again, not that Angel Hernandez gets the benefit of the doubt, see the tweet), that's on you for not being professional enough to figure it out. If sports weren't up their own asses about the "human element" maybe we could have robo umps, but we don't because that's what MLB wants. Go collectively bargain for it or something. Post subject: | Re: Angel Hernandez |
Hernandez is equally bad for both teams. He's not favoring one team over the other; so teams going into games with Hernandez behind the plate should realize they need to be ready to swing at pitches outside the zone, esp with 2 strikes. |
Author: | Frank Coztansa [ Tue Apr 26, 2022 10:01 am ] |
Post subject: | Re: Angel Hernandez |
That goes to Nardi's point above. Why should a hitter have to swing at obvious balls when only 1 umpire calls them strikes? They can see the same pitch 100 times in a row and only one ump will call it a strike. |
