C'mon people. You don't go into Nordstrom's and offer $2000 for a coat with a $2500 tag on it. The price is $2500. You get ZERO credit for offering $2000. In fact you get labeled as a fucking idiot.

I hope someone like you is buying my house when I sell.

I offered over the list price last time I bought a house and I've lived in it happily for the past 12 years.

Shrewd. I thought bad business deals remained in the isolated world of sports.

They are truths. Those things were said yesterday, but they were said by Cubs fans.

Lozano called the Sox and gave them an opportunity to match the guaranteed money. He wanted to come here, which is the real kick in the balls.

That 50 million saved will end up going to some next generation Adam Dunn in the future

 come on. That's a level of disingenuous thinking I only thought BRick could achieve. They knew what the price of admission was and they tried to undercut it. That's cheap.

They offered a legit contract. And I can’t blame them for having triggers towards the end that require a certain level of performance. This isn’t the NFL where contracts can be mitigated. You can probably make a lot of arguments for the Sox being cheap, but this isn’t one of those times.

Stupid people like me knew the asking price was $300 million at the start of FA. Everyone was shocked with the smaller reported numbers. He waited and magically the original $300 million is exactly what he got.

This wasn't a difficult negotiation...for the Padres. They jumped in and wrapped it up in a couple of weeks.

The amount of activity in the Sox section over the last 24 hours is just further proof that Cubs fans are obsessed with the other side of town.

well, I agree that the amount of the contract offered cannot be considered cheap. However, it was offered disingenuously, so it was never really an offer.

No, the White Sox made news yesterday so every Chicago sports fan was talking about it. I know you're not used to that.

You on the other hand spent most of your anger on Cub fans rather than your owner, which just proves my point even more.

I just don't want to be associated with some of the extreme views against groups on this board other than Russians.

There are some people I don't believe are kidding around.

This is EXACTLY what upsets me most now that we lost out. Whether it's through a bad trade or FA signing.....the wasted money spent by the Sox is disgusting.

I do believe them they will spend the money elsewhere...and it will be on hot garbage.

It's the same thing that people said about how Heyward "turned down more money" from the Cardinals when it was only because of there being more years on the contract.

I don't know how Frank can show his face again in the Cub section. His opinions on this whole debacle are eerily similar to that of the Cub fans we have mocked.

You don't know what in the hell you're talking about. First you quit, then you're back on board, then you quit again but you will still go to games.

Maybe you ought to just stick with trolling the Cubs fans. Sox Subdivision is small, but perhaps we'd be mightier without you.
