I can find other examples. JORR has filled a page with them on his own.

You don't have to act like the generalizations are anything close to the same.

Here's a review off yelp of a place where I went to this weekend.

Quote:
It gets as busy as any place that brings em in from the suburbs and sororities every weekend and do expect to wait for a seat on weekends (esp if the upstairs is booked) but when you get in you will find amazing drinks at fairly good prices on the offer. Just a good hang out and a tad more upscale than the hipster mixology places further west. I suppose this is a great place for the 20-30 something law grad and marketing set, but people were not Lincoln Park obnoxious.

Top bar for an area of the city where I don't go because - you guessed it - I am way too cool to hang out with people from Bolingbrook in the city for a few hours! Just kidding. Bolingbrook rocks.

This joking but kinda not really is pretty commonplace. I guess there should be a perimeter with checkpoints set up around Chicago's boundaries. That way Chicagoans can have a gated community keeping out undesirables that suburbanites have!

That's a very strong word. The suburbs are fine. Some have character. Some are intentionally devoid of character.

However, the suburbs, by definition, are a reaction to city living.

I re-posted what you said.

And if you are going to claim that the elite from the CCL have somehow done a bang up job of stewardship in this state, then I think it's fair to say you may only need a convertible to drive around those that agree.

Have I missed anything?

You widened it to CCL when it became inconvenient for you to argue one particular school.

I couldn't even understand your rambling points at the end. I fully expected to hear about the Rothschilds and Colonel Sanders with his beady little eyes telling everyone to buy his chicken by the end.

So now I embarassed myself?

If you believe that Ignatius didn't offer favor to athletes and excellent students in order to enhance their reputation, then that's an island you won't have much company on. And as I stated, my alma mater did, and continues to do the same thing.

There is no hypocrisy in offering favor to excellent students. The whole point of the place is to offer favor to excellent students.

You didn't say that. You said athletes, which is not defensible.

I live in the suburbs where more than one of their former coaches resides(d).

If you think that Ignatius never offered favor to athletes, then you may want to dig a little deeper.

If you think that the whole point of a Jesuit education is to offer favor to excellent students, then you couldn't be more mistaken. But that statement supports my assertion of the arrogance that has been taught there, and carried on into politics.

Correct. It's a waste of money to live in the city.

There are places in the city I'd (maybe but probably not) live and places in the city I would not. There are suburbs I'd consider and ones I wouldn't.

I'm more antisocial, I don't like being around lots of people. We were at the McFetridge Sports Center last week. Very nice facility but driving around, I couldn't see myself living in an area like that. It's not for me.

I'm not disagreeing especially as a person at the stage in life where I would maximize my tax dollars by using schools, parks and programs.

Keep shifting the argument.

If Ignatius is favoring athletes, they are doing it wrong.

As long as "those people" don't call themselves "Chicagoans", they're fine with me. The overwhelming majority aren't (imo), they are Hinsdalers, or Rolling Meadows-ers. Why is that so difficult to accept?!?

And yeah, they're fine, especially if they stay the hell home in their burbs on weekends. :D

I know your final sentence was meant as a joke...but I hope Chicagoans realize where a lot of the money going into their city comes from.
