I started watching the late night shows in the late 80s/early 90s. I didn’t get to see Johnny Carson’s shows from his younger days, but I don’t get it why some people are comparing Jimmy Fallon to Johnny Carson. The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson seemed to have a middle-America, mass appeal, while the current Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon sometimes seems to be trying too hard to seem hip.
Carson was the standard that other shows cannot or never will achieve. Never again will there be a show like it.
