I agree getting to one billion wasn't all luck. Getting to $188 billion? Mostly luck.

People, including me, laughed at Tesla and his plans. He proved to be right. This isn't like Zuckerberg creating the same site 100 others did and being the one that got chosen.

But it's not like the stock valuation is even close to rational.

Other big tech companies have felt the same.

Yeah, I just don't think Tesla is going to dominate the future of cars or have anything like a Google monopoly, which is essentially how the stock is being priced.

except i think they will. their cars aren't the most reliable (far from it) but they are the most desired. and they partnered with panasonic to make bleeding edge batteries.. that is key.

toyota claims to have solid state batteries coming next year, which looks to be a game changer... but look for tesla to throw a similar ace without warning, as they typically do. solid state is going to rocket propel the electric car industry. 10min charge times, doesn't burn when smashed. lighter and lasts 20 years. they are going to eliminate the need for gas engines. if you think tesla has hit a plateau, no fucking way. they are also leading the auto drive industry, which is the other half of their plan to dominate the car market.

I am laughing at the uproar of him filing a 13G vs. 13D over his Twitter purchase. I bet less than 1% of the people in this country have any clue of the difference between those two SEC forms.

If someone files a 13G they are telling you they made the purchase. It can be a thin line between whether they intend to be active or passive with their holdings. I mean Blackrock is getting pretty active in its investments even with Index Funds….

It would be hard to argue that joining the Board of Directors is not being active.

I couldn't tell you if twitter is popular or not. Is it? All I know is if you have a gotcha, you go there. And Trump was a star there and they fired him.

All while destroying the environment way more than gas-powered engines / exhaust!

If Toyota had the technology or it was imminent, their stock price would reflect it.

There are modest tax credits for electric vehicle purchases. But I would contend Tesla is winning in somewhat of an Apple model of gaining rabid fanboys and strong internally developed technology. But different from Apple, they are building their own production capacity locally in Cali, China, and Germany for each market.

It is pretty impressive overall.

That's true. The big difference is that iPhones are overpriced but quality products and Teslas are overpriced but the quality is undeniably terrible.

The biggest threat to Tesla is one of the bigger car companies creates an electric car that you can trust like a normal car as not everyone is going to say "Yeah, this car kind of sucks but it's also awesome".

I think he's protected against that scenario as I expect him to buy Toyota or BMW at some point.

He can't buy all the car companies though and it's going to be a massive drop of Tesla's value if the hypothetical quality electric car starts rolling out to American dealerships.

Announced he is going to buy Twitter for $43B. Interesting that the initial headline on Bloomberg said "Elon Musk Launches $43 Billion Hostile Takeover of Twitter" and then was changed to "Elon Musk makes $43 billion unsolicited bid to take Twitter private." Funny to see all these idiots getting their panties in a bunch, afraid of what he will do.

I am not a Twitter guy so fill me in on Musk's problems with it? He does not want any censorship or ads? No ads does he expect people to subscribe?

It's amusing to me that people who live and die on Twitter are worried about this.

If they don’t like what he would do with pRiVaTe BuSiNeSs they can go out and make their own twitter . I believe theyd agree that’s what the solution is .
