Well, it all started, as all things do, when Cornel West gently criticized Ta-Nehisi Coates for emphasizing identity without emphasizing class struggle in civil rights. Then people took sides and TNC got flustered and Quit The Internet over it. Then some black lady on Twitter accused Cornel West of being paid by the Russian government to sow dissent among black people, because lots of black people are in this fucked-up Hillary Clinton death cult that accuses everyone they don't like of being paid by the Russian government. Then Quad City Pat, who loves the exquisite daughters of Kush, came in and jokingly said everyone would belittle her salient point (which, again, was that Cornel West is a Russian spy) by pointing out that the lightness of her skin makes her point illegitimate. Then the black lady said that actually, only Pat had pointed out the lightness of her skin (but that's only because Jason Goff didn't get in there first), and by the way nice try wrapping it up by saying that other people would say what you meant to say all along. Then Pat got embarrassed and apologized to his luscious mocha honey and said he would Do Better. Then he locked his account. Just another day online.
