What was that experience like?

I worked with a woman who went to Bob Jones University? She married a Jewish guy and became I big city lawyer so I assumed she decided to rebel against things post college. I didn't want to delve too deeply to find that she was secretly adding something to the water supply of the jews and papists with whom she worked.

experience was great for the most part. compared to my cohorts i got a pretty solid business education. i went when it was jerry sr. which a lot of people didn't like, but he was a pretty cool guy who called it like he saw it. i think he'd be rolling over in his grave if he saw what j jr was doing. his other son is not really a happy camper but doesn't have anything to do with the university.

outside of a few religious inspired rules, it wasn't that much different than my experience in public university. This was 15 years ago. it was what you made it and they allowed within reason you to make those choices.

bob jones would be a very different experience compared to liberty. i believe in the not too distant past, they had separate sidewalks for men and women.

as i've grown i was very much excited to encourage my children to follow in my wife and I's footsteps and attend. However not just this but the last 3 or 4 years i've not been a fan of jerry jr and has soured that.

Bob Jones University sounds made up. gd, do you know anyone who went to Bovine University?

Liberty University and Jr. are everything wrong with the Evangelical wing of the Republican party. They endorse a man married 3 times who made his money off of casinos.

I have no problem with someone who has been married multiple times or opens casinos, but if you're going to preach about sin and other bullshit, at least have some fucking consistency.

i guess i'm as close to an evangelical as you can get while still cringing at the term, but the dog and pony show these dopes put on fellating trump made me and many other sick to our stomachs. so many of these republican politicians are just absolute scum of the earth and they just automatically get the evangelical vote.

But i think thats changing. i'm apart of a group at our church that is about 30 young married couples (20-40 yr olds) and i would say almost 60% of them are not "republicans" based on discussions we have. many democrats, many libertarian/independents.

I have no problem with evangelicals who are consistent in their beliefs. Heck, if they voted for Ted Cruz (who I don't really like) I wouldn't complain as at least his lifestyle and views aligns with them. I have no issue with people who vote according to their beliefs provided that they are consistent. It was the asswipes like Huckabee talking out of both sides of their mouth that I really detest.

i don't have an issue with voting for whoever, my issue is propping them up as "God's choice" or like this is for sure the right thing to do or even politicizing the pulpit.

That's a good point. They really were pushing that angle heavily. Voting is one thing when you're stuck with 2 options. I could understand evangelicals voting in the general for him. It was their support in the primary (he won the majority of that segment) that was really laugh out loud hypocritical

trump over cruz just blew my mind.

i think ultimately, cruz was drowned out by all the things they've heard before. his typical GOP message that usually gets them sopping wet downstairs was over powered by "revival like" rallying crys of a wall, healthcare, and whatever other bullshit trump was yelling about.

Trump really didn't try too hard to win them. If he had been going up against anybody but devil Hillary on the other side, I don't think he wins...his opponent had been vilified for so long in so many pulpits, he got votes by default.

I don't think so - didn't he finish second in the primaries? He had colleagues who hated him reconsidering their choice once it became clear that it was either Cruz or Trump. Cruz came very close to winning the nomination.
