If it weren't for the Blackhawks, the Bulls would be this town's Johnny Tyler ... 'The Madcap'.

What's going on?

Wasted season unless they get really lucky with the lottery.

Most backwards organization in sports. Win when you want them to lose, lose when you want them to win. Whole organization needs to fall down a well.

Nomination denied. Markkanen and Portis are good players, young, healthy, and played really well tonight. NBA already warned them about obvious tanking and they shut down Dunn and Lavine for the season. Not much you can do about a game like tonight where your two best guys only play half the game but play great enough to win against another shit team anyway.

But yeah I agree the organization is pretty fucked in general.

Sure seems like they win a lot more games when Levine doesn't play.

Some team may be dumb enough to offer Lavine a huge deal. You let him walk if that happens.

How do the bulls get warned for tanking when almost a third of the league is actively trying to lose?

Yeah my favorite part of this is the fact that they've been doing this with Lavine and Dunn on the bench. Maybe the Bulls would have been better at maximizing their chances at losing games if they had played these 2 huge core pieces for their future, as the presence of both and their poor shot selection had previously kept Markannen from going off as much when they did play.

I don't need to google it. It is total bullshit by the league. There are 8 teams that are actively trying to lose whether due to "resting" guys or sitting starters in crunch time.

How do you mess up a tank so terribly?

I don't see it with Dunn. A point guard who can't shoot. This is a core piece?

Well, the draft is in Chicago, so maybe they'll freeze the right envelope.

Yeah they are all doing it. The Bulls should have just cut Holiday and traded Lopez in Dec. or January and that problem would have been solved.

The draft is in New York. The lottery is in Chicago. It’s not inconceivable a team slotted 6th or 7th moves into the top 3. It’s happened before. They “randomly” draw the first 3 picks. Anybody can get into the top 3. The Kings were slotted 8th last year and got the 3rd pick (traded down later).

The year they drafted Rose they had the 8th worst record. They screwed this up though. They were sitting pretty at 3-20. It was going to be a lost season no matter what. Develop the young guys (which they have) get up into the top 3 and make a solid free agent signing or 2 in the off season and they are in the playoffs next season.

I actually think they still get into the playoffs next season but it is going to be awhile before they are contending for anything. Philly and Boston are about to run roughshot over the Eastern Conf.

I think they need to consider walking away from Lavine. He isn't a scorer you depend on. He isn't a winning basketball player. Lauri and Dunn seem to have much more potential, and you need to build around them, and then find a good scoring option in free agency.

There’s always movement in the lottery. Happens nearly every year. Remember, the NBA chose Chicago to host the lottery because they figured the Bulls would be a terrible team and get a top pick. Also, the combine is there.

2017: Sacramento slotted 8th, gets 3rd pick
2015: Lakers slotted 4th, gets 2nd pick
2014: Cleveland slotted 9th, gets 1st pick
2013: Washington slotted 8th, gets 3rd pick
2012: New Orleans slotted 4th, gets 1st pick
2011: Clippers slotted 8th and Nets slotted 6th, Clippers get 1st pick and Nets 3rd pick
2010: Washington slotted 5th and Philadelphia slotted 6th, Washington gets 1st pick and Philly 2nd pick
2009: Memphis slotted 6th and Thunder slotted 4th, Memphis gets 1st pick and Thunder 3rd pick

You might be right. I wouldn't pay Lavine anything more than 20 mil a year. He isn't a max guy though I'm sure he goes for a max deal. I think you can win with him but not as your best player. 3rd best maybe 2nd even. Of the 3 Markannen is the real keeper. They still don't have a franchise guy and this draft would have been the one where they could have found one.

I hope to hell they don't draft Trae Young. I don't want any part of his undersized gunning ass.

The Bulls were rolling with Dunn in the Starting lineup prior to him taking his face through the wood against G.S. How soon we forget (or maybe never noticed)

They sat healthy players like Lopez out of the break. The NBA said you can't do that.

Yes, and the NBA changed its stance this offseason because of the blowback from star players sitting during nationally televised games. Also, the Spurs are never tanking.....

I don't see the difference between the Spurs and a tanking team. In the end, its a team purposly not giving its best effort to win a regular season game.

I tend to agree with you but I can’t envision the Bulls not re-signing him. He was the “biggest piece” in the Butler trade. GarPax is going to tell us his potential is sky high and the 24 games he played this year was just about getting his conditioning back and playing basketball again.

I doubt the Spurs would be interested in a sign and trade for Kawhi, unless you throw in a first round pick and another player or two. That would be better than any Cavs offer if the Bulls lose those back to back games versus Brooklyn.
