Shut up, dumbass. I think society's largest problem is multi-million dollar pitchers who can't throw a ball to first base.

Quote:
Jon Lester Had a Very Crotchety Response to That Cardinals Fan's Nachos Incident

We all got a laugh out of Monday night's top baseball story: a Cardinals fan who got nachos spilled all over him by Cubs shortstop Addison Russell as the latter dove into the stands for a foul ball. And best of all, that fan ended up whole in the end, as Russell, the Cubs and the Cardinals teamed up to give him two new orders of nachos.

It's the kind of silly lark that makes late September baseball bearable, but not if you're Cubs starter Jon Lester, who sees in this spilled pile of piping hot melted cheese and chips a metaphor for the ruin of this great nation. Via the Chicago Sun-Times:

“Great effort,” pitcher Jon Lester said. “But I don’t understand the other stuff.

“A guy fell into him and got nacho cheese on his arm and now he’s taking pictures and signing autographs. It shows you where our society’s at right now with all that stuff.”

I, for one, think our society has far, far, far bigger problems as to where we are as a society at the moment than some dude getting momentarily internet famous because he lost his ballpark concessions, but Lester is allowed his very crotchety opinion.

Lester is a curmudgeon and always has been. I don't care as long as he keeps the ball down.

Some people think millionaire players eating chicken and drinking beer in the clubhouse while the game is going on is a problem too.

I like it. It's refreshing to see a guy not afraid to be a red ass and say what he thinks.

Hard to argue.

I was listening to W&S and they were talking about this guy.

I flipped to WGN and John Williams is about to interview him.

So what is the standard for useful thoughts here - saying what one "thinks," even if what you think is dumb as fuck, or something else? If there's any backlash against Lester, it certainly wouldn't be because he had the audacity to say something he believed in - it would be because what he ostensibly believed in is dumb.

Withholding judgement until the true red ass of the clubhouse weighs in. What say you Lackey? Are you more or less of a red ass?

The only reason drinky Lackey was mad is because nachos were wasted.

Denied. He's correct. Shame on the dumbasses (not Russell) taking pictures with the guy and asking for his autograph. Are you fucking kidding me?

Echoes of Mike Gundy (that was ten years ago) in Lester: where are we at in society today? COME AFTER ME! I'M A MAN! I CAN'T THROW TO FIRST!

Nope, that was ten years ago almost to the day. He's now a man who is fifty.

Of course he is. We went through this already with Ken Bone; how many fat St. Louisans do we need to give 15 minutes to?
