Can they just do us a favor and sell or join Dollar Bill in hell?

The new tax program Trump is talking about would get rid of the death tax which would take care of the family selling. Someone correct me on this if I'm mistaken.

It would depend on their estate planning and in what type of legal vehicle the shares are held. I assume there is ultimately a partnership with a bunch of trusts.

Selling has nothing to do with the estate tax. That falls under capital gains laws, and rates are historically low on cap gains taxes. If they were inclined to sell for tax reasons, it has been a good time for a while.

I had read years ago that the McCaskeys would be able to will down the Bears with or without an estate tax

I am not well versed on estate planning trusts, but I suspect that is how they would do it. There are certain techniques where companies are passed down to subsequent generations. The shares are probably held widely among the family members anyways, which means estate laws wouldn't come into play that much.

Knowing the Bears, it's probably a Pinto.

Are they holding a press conference to tell everyone that "mom is pissed off" at the 95-94-6 record?

"Virginia, how does it feel to be losing the all-time series vs the Packers for the first time since you were 9 years old?"

Regardless of what happens with the tax code....the McCaskeys will retain ownership after Virginia dies. Unfortunately for Bears fans, I think these goofballs do feel a sense of obligation to retain the team within the family, regardless of how poorly the can actually operate the organization.

If these inbred looking shart stains retain the franchise there truly is no hope for sustained success.

I think the issue was that the shares are divided among so many people in such a way that there would be no clear-cut majority owner, which the NFL needs. They may have waived that rule for the McCaskeys, though.

George is a good guy who is capable of making difficult decisions. He just needs a better football guy than Teddy. I'd not be shocked to see Harbaugh walk through the door at some point. Nobody thought he'd fire Jauron, but it was his first move in charge.
