Books Milo to speak.

Cancels speech after online protests. Fucking cowards.
Quote:
CHICAGO — Operators of the Patio Theater, 6008 W. Irving Park Road, have called off an event with alt-right personality Milo Yiannopoulos, writing in a Wednesday announcement that they've "heard the voices" of explosive backlash against the booking.

"While Patio Theater prides itself on being one of the few truly independent venues in Chicago, the views and opinions of the performers do not necessarily reflect the views of this organization," the announcement read

Should have used "bloodandsoil" or "htlrwsright". Better discounts.

Was the Patio the one that just got renovated or am I thinking of the Congress?

You have posted in passing that you spent some time on the Northwest Side. From your posts on the subject, I can only surmise that you were being held against your will, and periodically shuttled around in a box with airholes.

I keep hoping Milo either finds a friend, or is killed by, a guy named Otis.

Haha. Such a bad reference. But I still laughed.

A couple questions for you, TS. How do you pronounce the name of that theater? And does it still lack air conditioning?

Hard "a", like hat.

Air was fixed for good in 2016 I believe. They've had one capital project after another - furnace, roof, digital projector conversion. They got some good loan terms and grant money offers via Cullerton, but they never took him up on them. A Greek family owned it the last 20 years or do, when it's been mostly dormant. They either sold the business or management of the business to Eddie Carranza 2 years ago (which is where CH might be making the Congress theater connection. Believe me, if you spent $65 million to restore the Patio, you would have enough money left over to stuff the seats with it.) I think they sold it outright, building and all, this year. There is a dude running it since the beginning of this month,, he is a tenant, runs a DJ or sound mixing company. He is probably the guy who booked Milo.

Interesting take. I kind of thought the same about Gale's ribs. I liked that general area.
