The complaining is that he thinks that any politician that gets elected to national office immediately is bought by the rich.

But hey, pointing out that the middle class could if they wanted vote anyone out of office is absurd!

FWIW, I agree that they could do that, but elections are about 5% of what "power" is.
By choice though, because a lot of voters do actually like what is happening with their politicians. I mean, I was pretty much on my own on here in wanting a $15 minimum wage.

This whole discussion was about laws. The lawmakers are elected.

That's not a complaint, it's just a statement in response to yours.

I didnt start a thread bitching about powerful wealthy people. Im just reacting to your absurd statement that the middle class have more power than the wealthy.

They do. They just don't use it the way you think they should.

They do. They just don't use it the way you think they should.

No, they dont.

As a block, they can affect elections but as Leash pointed out, that is not the endgame or final say on power.

And as I said earlier, there are certainly many politicians who have had good ideas. They get voted in, the wealthy powerful people corrupt them or they get voted out. Rinse and repeat with the common theme being, do what the powerful people say or be gone.

At that point, doesn't seem like the middle class ever had more power, does it?

I think we may have found the disconnect.

The wage will be what the powerful says it will be. Whether the middle class guy likes it or not, that is the way it be.

Who is talking about complaints?

Women could be a nearly unstoppable voting block if they wanted to be also but just like a lot of middle class people, a lot of women agree with the Republicans on women's rights.

So basically women have a beef with other women? Do I have that right? I'm having trouble understanding you since you're probably so hopped up on free caffeine that you glommed off some other bad middle class person at a Starbuck's drive-thru.

My point is that many middle class people actually agree with and want the agenda pushed by the "rich who buy and sell every national politician". One of the reasons, that isn't all that nice to say, is that when they get cheaper goods and services by suppressing wages and benefits to poor people they are slightly better off. They don't want a cheeseburger to cost a dollar more even if it the result is the worker makes a livable wage.

I'm not going to list their names in this forum.

That's not true. If the middle class and poor united and wanted the same things those things would get done tomorrow.

I disagree. It would take years, several election cycles and tons of changes to the law.

But that premise is so far fetched in our current climate, it's barely worth considering.

I think you are ignoring the fact that a good portion of middle class voters don't want it to change. I mean, even the Democrats chose Hillary Clinton by a large margin over Bernie Sanders.

It just seems like you are unwilling to admit that it isn't just the rich that have the control and that the middle class wishes they had a way to fight against them but they chose not to do so.

Now, don't get me wrong, the rich do have a lot of power, but this power comes in large part from the middle class being willing to go along with them.

That's closer to what I believe.

I guess you guys are right, that in theory the middle class could have the power by voting, but we are so far down the rabbit hole of middle class demonizing the poor (on behalf of the rich) that it's almost worthless to think about.

Most middle class people are more upset about link cards than corporate welfare etc.

But the fact still remains that the rich control politicians. So even if you vote in the good ones, there is a strong chance they will have the choice of falling in line or being replaced.
