The mistake the clerk make was thinking that Chipotle gives any fucks about people dining and dashing . As an employee especially where minorities are concerned you’re better off not confronting at all. Especially for $10 am hour. They will not have your back even if you’re right .

How do you dine and dash at a Chipotle? Don’t you pay for your food before you get it?

That was my initial thought as well.

Only thing I can think is that they didn't want to prepare the food only for them not to pay at the end.

Do I have this correct?

Masud Ali has "dined and dashed" at this Chiptole, as well as other places in the past, and bragged about it on social media.
The employee at Chipotle knows he has done this and asks if he has the money to pay for the food.
The guy records her saying that and puts it on social media in an attempt to portray her as racist and himself as a victim.
Headlines read "Chipotle employee fired for refusing to serve black man."
Now the truth is apparently starting to come out.

Make the food.
Ask for the money.
Guy doesn't have money.
Throw out the food.
Repeat as often as neccessary.
Don't get into the business of teaching the customers a lesson. That's Chipotle's job.

I get that and not necessarily disagree, but if this happens often it definitely will affect the manager's food cost which may impact a potential bonus she can receive.

They hand out pinks slips too. Either the manager used bad judgement by not going my route, or Chipotle put her in an untenable situation.

Seems to me from watching the video like she knew exactly who the guys were and she wasn't confused at all. The goof's Twitter feed pretty much supports that. Now I'm boycotting Chipotle because of their callous treatment of a woman of color.

This group of young men is well known to Chipotle upper management. They have done a runner with food from many locations in town. 5-7 of them come in then say the last one in line will pay. The last one in line either has a credit card that is not their’s or runs out. They have someone waiting outside in a running car. St Louis Park police have video of a group doing it. Again Chipotle upper management knew about this it has been going on for a couple of years and they did nothing to protect their employees as sometimes these men were aggressive. This manager did protect her staff and Chipotle fired her because not having bad press is more important to them than their employees.
