put a little cider vinegar in a wide mouth glass. wrap top with saran wrap. .poke small holes. they go in but can't get out. |

If you don't mind the smell for a couple of days, put bleach down all of your drains. That worked for my townhouse about 6 years back. |

It just runs down the drain. To get rid of fruit flies you need to get rid of the gunk where they lay eggs. Where are your fruit flies? They don't go far from where they lay their eggs. So if in the kitchen, do you have a garbage disposal? If so does the black rubber splash guard come out? Take that out and look at the underside. Covered with gunk? Clean it thoroughly and my guess is in 24 hours your problem is gone. If it doesn't come out then just reach in there and clean it best you can. If you don't have a garbage disposal then look around for other areas where there is accumulated gunk. Under refrigerator, stove or sink? Point being, a fruit fly problem is a cleanliness problem. |

Never knew we had so many fruit fly experts around! I actually did eradicate most of them with my paper funnel + vinegar method, just a couple of ones that refuse to go away. No disposal, but I am going to do my best to bleach the pipes away, as I do see them fly out of there sometimes when I go to rinse a glass out. I also like to run a Kuerig cycle to get hot water and dump that in the drain -- I think that probably kills some that are in there at the time, but it doesn't clean up the gunk that is causing the problem. |
